Her disapproving grunt was immediately met with a chuckle she'd normally find endearing, but right now she wanted silence. Silence and his body to return to where she could continue to use it as a full-body pillow. She felt a soft kiss on her forehead before the offending chuckle turned into actual words. "You know, I'll be more than happy to stay here if you have any intention of waking up and keeping me entertained at any time during the next few hours". A new grunt revealed her absolute lack of intention to do any such thing. "Thought so." His voice really sounded way to bemused this early in the morning. "I'm going for a walk, see you when you join the world of the living." "Fine. Go, just stop talking". Another chuckle followed, louder this time, and she felt him lean down to her, his lips lingering on hers. "Love you sleepyhead". Mumbling something intended to reciprocate the sentiment, she quickly fell back to blissful sleep before he ever even got as far as the door.
Some hours later, at what Stevie would argue was still far too early, she had finally dragged herself out of the sweet comfort of the bed. Staring out on the rare London sun, waiting for her assistant Karen to come with her morning coffee, her mind drifted to the night before. This leg of the tour sure had started on the right foot. The previous months had been tumultuous at best, one week barely speaking, the next marked by an uneasy truce. Some weeks they could even call themselves friends and mean it. Friends with benefits. Lots and lots of benefits. Though, to be fair, they were no strangers to being enemies with benefits either. They sure didn't have to talk nice while in bed. Now, on their second day in London, they hadn't really had the chance to find anything to fight over yet, meaning even their non-carnal interactions were on the cordial, even sweet, side of things. 'So far so good' she thought to herself while stretching out tired muscles. 'So far so very, very good' the familiar sweet ache between her legs reminded her, as she let images of the reason flash through her inner eye.
"Everyone decent in here?" Karen's voice came from the next room, interrupting a particularly dirty memory that had her blushing just thinking of it. "He left hours ago, come right in!" she shouted back. Hiding her trysts with Lindsey from her assistant would be more hassle than it was worth, so they gave up any pretense years and years ago. At this point it was simply treated as 'just another day at the office. Don't talk about it.' Worked best that way.
"Here" Karen handed her a mug of steaming black liquid which Stevie gratefully grabbed. "Oh, you're a lifesaver" Stevie said with a yawn, inhaling the scent before taking a big sip. "Yeah, who doesn't need caffeine when they have to get up at the crack of afternoon" Karen rolled her eyes, her smile evident. Reaching for Stevie's phone, she did what Stevie herself never did and checked for calls and messages.
"Why on earth do you have this thing if you never use it? You have nine missed calls from the same number" "I use it when I want to. Whose number? Don't everyone just usually call you when they can't reach me?" "Which is pretty much always, and yes they do. Don't know whose number, doesn't belong to any of your contacts. That's odd. Who else has your number? Want me to check?" Stevie simply stared at her assistant, the answer too obvious for her to actually bother to reply. "Right, lets see" Staring at her phone for a few seconds before speaking again "It seems to be some foundation or something. I have no idea, never heard of it. You recognize it?"
Stevie took one look at the name on the screen placed before her and instantly choked on her coffee. It had been years, but unlike most things from this period of her life, this particular name, unsuspecting as it might be, was still imprinted in her memory clear as if she heard it yesterday. "You ok?" Karen rubbed her back trying to ease her coughing. "Bad news?" Stevie simply shook her head and pushed her assistant away. "Leave" she eventually managed to get out between coughs, authority still present in her voice. "What?" No matter what was going on, she was rarely asked to leave. There was little to no secrets between them. "I need to be alone. Give me my phone and go. Come get me before the show". Karen knew better than to argue and, however reluctantly, did as told. Stevie stopped paying attention to anything other than her phone the second her command left her lips. Mind racing, she kept coming back to the absolute worst-case scenario. What if? Why did she have to sleep so long? Why didn't she have the sound turned on? Her insides a complete chaos, it only took a moment to decide what to do. Desperately trying to get shaking hands to obey, she started to scroll for Lindsey's name. Sound of beeping soon filled her ears while she was hoping, praying she wasn't too late.

Inspiration for a new story finally hit. It will be a bit different than what I've written before. Definitely more angsty. Hope you still like it!
