Vegas had always lived in the shadows, navigating the brutal world of the mafia with sharp wits and a cold demeanor. But when it came to Macau, his 11 year old little brother, he was nothing but soft.
Ever since their father’s death, life had finally settled into something that resembled happiness. Vegas was no longer a son bound by duty but a man free to love and protect those he cherished.
He had brought Macau home, back where he belonged, and had Pete, his anchor, his love by his side.
Today, however, was for Macau. Just the two of them, a rare brotherly day out.
Vegas knew macau always likes to go out and one time macau told pete how he wanted to spend a day with his favourite hia and play with him. But since his hia was busy he couldn't have his wish. When pete told that to vegas, he knew he had to leave everything and make his little ones wish come true.
So one day vegas walked into macaus room and told him to get ready. Macau was so excited he got ready quick and ran to the car.
They spent hours exploring the city.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, Macau sprinted ahead, spinning around dramatically.
"Hia! Where are we going first? Arcade? Movie? Ice cream?"
Vegas raised an eyebrow.
"Breakfast. Normal people eat before running around like lunatics."
Macau huffed.......crossing his arms.
"I’m not a lunatic. I’m a child with boundless energy."
Vegas smirked.
"Same thing."
They walked into a cozy little diner, Macau bouncing in his seat while scanning the menu.
"What do you want Mac!??"
"Ooooh! Pancakes! With chocolate chips! And extra syrup!"
Vegas sighed.
"You’re going to get a sugar rush."
"That’s the goal." Macau grinned.
Vegas ordered his usual coffee and toast, while Macau’s plate was piled with enough sugar to make anyone concerned. The moment the pancakes arrived, Macau dug in like a starved puppy.
Vegas watched him for a while before speaking
"So, how’s school?"
Macau paused mid-bite, eyeing his brother suspiciously.
"Why do you sound like an old man?"
"I’m just asking."
Macau wiped his mouth dramatically.
"Fine. Since you’re so curious, let me tell you about my miserable life. I have homework. A lot of it. The math teacher hates me. And the cafeteria food is a crime against humanity."
Vegas sipped his coffee, unimpressed.
"Sounds like normal school life."
"Normal? Hia, you don’t understand. They gave us something called ‘mystery meat’ the other day. Mystery should not be in the name of something you eat."
Vegas snorted.
"But......I thought Pete pack your lunch"
Macau nodded.
"Yes, because Pete is an angel sent from the heavens.....Unlike you, scary mafia man."
Vegas flicked his forehead.
