Let me get this straight.
Not every OC has to be a dragon slayer.
You should make up your own kind of magic or take inspiration from a power in another series. It isn't necessarily wrong to be raised by a dragon and such, but it's very common now.
The characters in Fairy Tail have very unique backgrounds and many are surprisingly uncommon in fanfiction. Like if you want them to have had a childhood full of hardship, they could've been forced to slave away at the Tower of Heaven similar to how Erza did. You could have a past similar to Meredy's where your town was destroyed and someone took you in and maybe taught your OC the magic they currently use. But the dragon slayer thing is becoming quite overused, and if you want to use it, that's fine. But I would recommend something more uncommon or just coming up with one yourself.
