Gavin POV

I let out a sigh. I've began to adapt to this place and it's almost like home now.

Since I can't fly very much at all, they let me do what I please in return for tests in the lab. Although the tests are limited, I'm allowed to do what I want when I want.

Now I'm called Gavin. No one can practically remember my number anymore and it kind of just drifted away. After multiple people got my number wrong, they decided to drop it. Even Dan got it wrong a few times.

Walking with my hands in the pockets of my white baggy pants, my feet made slight thuds on the ground. It was testing day, although every day was testing day, this was one of those experiments where I don't even know what will happen.

Ever since I last watched the video of Michael, I let my anger pass. Of course I'm still discouraged and rather not be here, it's just I know I can't do anything. So why fight it?

I nodded to the children who were doing flight testing in a large room with glass windows. Although they couldn't see me, I smiled. They were allowed to fly. Indoors at least. Because the techs know they won't try to fly out a window or anything.

Not to mention how friendly everyone has gotten since I let myself be welcomed here.

The people aren't that bad...

And I'm starting to like it.

"Sleep well Gavin?" One of the scientists asked as I passed. "You see happy."

I shook my head in response,"Not really happy. Just going. If that makes sense..."

The man nodded in return and smiled with a chuckle. "Glad to see you've let loose."

I agreed and we continued small talk until the anklet around my foot blinked red. I was late for the tests and that was never good but it was my fault this time.

It's been weeks. Months even since I last cried over the guys or felt emotion. I know they're better off without me. And I know Michael would be better off without me too, if he were in fact alive.

I shivered thinking about the video once more.

"I'm sorry I'm late I was talking with-"

Dan nodded with his hand in the air. "I understand Gavin, I knew where you were the entire time. I was just trying to tell you what your objective was."

I agreed and sat down in the chair in the middle of the room. Dan leaning against the wall, eyed my wings humming slightly.

"Hmm..?" I asked.

"How are you wings."

"My wings?" I looked at them. "They're fine for all I know."

"Can you fly?"

I shook my head no and extended them a bit so I was able to see where they were clipped a while back. "I havent been able to try it at all. It's restricted. Restricted by you."

He rubbed the scruff on his chin and set down a clipboard with a slight clink.

"You do know what today is right?" He asked stepping aside from the wall and heading in the direction of the cabinets.

"Yes. It's experiment day. Like mystery right?" I said. "Something I'm not aware about. Kind of like it's different from the others that happen everyday."

He nodded opening the cabinets and pulling out various boxes.

"Well today isn't one of those mysteries. It is in fact mystery. But to special."
