Meeting Mama

Shontae's pov

I just home my monthly appointment. My baby is health. Devin would't stop looking at the ultrasound pictures since we left the doctors office and was an hour. Hey I can't complain because some guys wouldn't want anything to do with a child if they were in his position. 

"Hey baby." Devin spoke up

"And he speaks" I chuckled

"You were so into the picture you haven't said a word to me." I said wrapping my arms around his neck

"Sorry I am just so happy right now." He said wrapping my arms around my waist

"Its okay." I pecked his lips

"My mother want to meet you." He said

"Really?" I smiled

"Yeah and my mom wants to see how big you gotten even though I keep trying to tell her you can't tell you are pregnant." He said

I was beyond happy right now. Devin told me how she never wanted to meet his girlfriends in the past.

"When is she coming?" I asked

"Later today." He said

"LATER TODAY?!?" I asked pulling away

"Yeah." he said

"Why didn't you tell me before? I was going to get my weave today." I said grabbing my phone

"I know that's why I didn't tell you." He said

"Whatever, Oh what am I going to cook." I said texting my girl that do my hair I was coming tomorrow

"Cook anything." He said sitting down

How is he so calm that is mother is coming. I am a nervous wreck. I am shaking so much.

"Baby come here." He said patting his lap

I sat on his lap "I want you to calm down okay?" He said kissing my shoulder 

"Okay." I said calming down at his touch

Later that day

I was sitting in the kitchen making my favorite southern dish. Gumbo.

"Yeah she is in the kitchen." I heard Devin say

"Shontae this is my mom, mom this is my future wife Shontae." He smiled

"She better be, she is beautiful." His mother said

"It a pleasure to meet you." I said extending my hand "And you can call me Tae if you like." I said letting my country accent slip here and there

"Nice to meet you too Tae, and please call me Veronica." She said taking my hand

"I am sorry ma'am, but I don't like to call adults by there first name like that. May I call you Ms. Veronica?" I asked

"Beautiful, southern, and well mannered... I like her." She smiled at me

Devin let out a huge sigh of relief. "Was you nervous boy?" She laughed

"A little, but Tae here was shacking she was so nervous." He said

"Aw no need to be nervous." She said bringing me into a hug

"Well I hope you are hungry. I made gumbo." I said

"And she can cook. Devin marry here now." Ms. Veronica said releasing me

We were eating and getting to know each other.

"So how is my grandbaby?" She asked as we finished up eating

"He is doing fine." I said

"You mean she is doing fine." Devin said

His mom looked so confused.

"I want a girl she wants a boy." Devin said

"Oh that makes sense." She giggled

She is the cutest thing ever. I just love her soul. 

"I want a girl too." She said standing up

"Oh no let me get." I said grabbing her plate

"Oh sweetie you are too kind, Devin grab these don't want my future daughter-in-law to working to hard with child." She said 

He smiled and grabbed all the dishes as we walked into the living room.

"Oh and wash them dishes." Ms. Veronica yelled

"Of course mom." He said before mumbling something under his breath

"What did you say boy? Don't make me embarrass  you." I threatened

"I said nothing honey." He yelled

"You better not have." I said sitting down next to his mama

She was just smiling at me. I smiled back. They look so much alike its scary. She pushed my hair out my face. 

"I am so lucky he has you. He hasn't been this happy in a long time." She said with glossy eyes

"I think I am the lucky one here, Devin has been with me before everything. He was there when I had nothing." I said letting a tear fall

"And I will always be there. No matter what." He said coming from the kitchen 

"You are my everything. Both of you guys." He said kissing both of us on my forehead before talking a picture of us both

"My favorite girls." He smiled
