We Encounter The "Big Bad Wolf"

For a second, I was airborne. My body was floating off the ground. And then I touched down. One foot landed before the other, and I took off at a run after the descent.
April was laughing at me, and I could hear it.
I felt more free than I ever had. I guess that is why I run like I do...
I kept going and finished the course in record time.
All while the russet haired boy matched me pace. He never gained ground, or lost any for that matter. I smiled and walked around in circles while I waited for April.
The boy watched me with what seemed was intrigue.
A couple minutes later, April came out of the trees towards me. She smiled at me as she jogged over. When she reached me, we walked over to our physical education teacher.
"I thought you said you couldn't jump!" She accused me, and held out her hand in a high-five gesture. I slapped her palm with my own.
"I really thought I wasn't going make it!" I admitted. Clearing that tree has been a bit of a confidence boost to my moderate dose of "I can do this".
The coach marked April as complete and said we were allowed to run the course again if we wanted.
April looked at me and I smiled knowingly at her.
She liked going on the course a second time, but both of us knew that she was going to be slower this time. She was more of a sprinter than a long distance runner, but she put in the effort to keep up with me.
In contrast to April, I am simply no good at short distance running. We accepted our differences and worked with each other to improve in our respective categories.
Anyways... April and I turned back to the trail and headed back down it.
The russet haired boy followed. He was starting to creep me out a bit.
We had only been on the trail for a few minutes before we heard a scream. Knowing from past experience, it was most likely one of the popular girls who broke a nail.
Both of us shrugged it off until there was a more masculine screech. The russet haired boy darted in front of us and took off sprinting down the path.
April and I picked up our pace rather quickly and soon found what the commotion was all about.
The popular girls must have been "running" with the jocks today. Not really uncommon.
Anyways. One of the girls was in a tree... The others were on the path screaming at something.
That something looked quite canine. It was a huge black... Wolf? It defiantly didn't look like any dog I had ever seen... Since last night I guess...
"Zash... That's a... A w...wwol... Wolf!" April quietly stuttered to me.
There was excitement evident in her voice.
Then I saw something else in the bushes. It looked like a smaller version of the black wolf. It looked like a little puppy. The popular girls had probably thought the wolf pup was a lost dog puppy. The must have not seen the big wolf...
All of a sudden, the puppy was picked up by a lean red coloured wolf. It was farther away, but the colours were almost the same as that dog I had found yesterday... But there was no way that that animal could be the same as what I had let in yesterday, was there? This one had a splotch of white on its front left paw.
Something glinted in the spotty sunlight that was filtered through the green leaves growing on the trees.
It plucked up the puppy and carried it away.
Soon the black wolf growled at the popular crowd before it started walking towards were the red wolf and pup had gone.
One of the jocks decided that then was a good time to try and grab onto the black wolf. He rushed towards it, and it turned around, teeth bared.
I don't know what I was thinking, but I rushed out and tripped the jock.
He fell like a bag of rocks right onto his chest.
The black wolf backed up, and made eye contact with me before walking away. The gaze reminded me of a gaze that I would get from someone appreciating something I did. Not something I get a lot...
Somehow I had just done something. Something really really stupid.
The jock got up off the ground, and glared at me.
"You little idiot! I almost had that killer!" He yelled at me, getting in my face.
      I back up from him.
April ran to my aid and stood in between us, "The only killers here are you people. What were you thinking?!" April menaced.
Did I ever mention she gets mean when she is annoyed or angry?
The jock backed up, and tripped over an unevenness in the path. He landed on his backside, and some of his "friends" started laughing at him.
I rolled my eyes at the idiots.
The girl in the tree was screaming at her friends and trying to get out of the tree. How has she even gotten up there in the first place? She shimmied down a couple inches before she plummeted towards the ground.
Luckily there was someone there to catch her...
      Or break her fall...
The girls started yapping and screaming at each other.
I massaged the bridge of my nose and April glared at the girl that had gotten down from the tree.
She walked over to them and stood defiantly in front of the group.
Of course I followed and copied my best friend's actions.
"Well?" April questioned, "What were you thinking? Oh, I forgot! You can't think because the chemicals in that fake-up has made you stupid!" April was spitting poison, and I think those half-wits had finally caught on.
"Ugh! My makeup is made with like 100% like something totally good for me! And then it's like tested on animals to make sure that it is like, safe for me to like, wear!" The girl from the tree scoffed.
I almost had to physically restrain April from punching that girl in the face so hard that her makeup would go flying and land somewhere in Poland. "I thought that little monster was, like, one of those cute purse puppy things! It like sooo looked like a Chihuahua! Right, girls?" She asked and her whole posse nodded.
I am no dog expert, but a wolf pup looks NOTHING like a little lap rodent. I was quite annoyed with her idiocy.
"That was a wild animal! How did you not see it's guardian? If you had touched that wolf puppy, that adult would have ripped you up enough that pieces of you would have to be carried in a purse!" April yelled at the popular girls standing in front of us. My best friend glared at them before turning to me, "C'mon, Zasha, we'd better get out of here before we catch the idiot virus." She spat.
We both started walking back down the path.
I decided to think about the wolves. It kind of looked like a necklace had been on the red coloured wolf's neck. I brushed it off as an illusion my eyes had played on me and sped up April and my pace.
Then something occurred to me. The russet haired boy had ran past us, but I hadn't seen him anywhere in that mess...
