۶ৎ Inayah's pov ۶ৎ

A low hum, muffled like sound pushing through water was in the surrounding. My eyelids fluttered, heavy as stone.

The darkness behind my eyes pulsed with streaks of red and gold, fading and blooming in rhythm with my heartbeat.

Pain licked at my skull, sharp and relentless, as my body felt distant - an anchor dragging me down.

Somewhere nearby, a voice wove through the haze.

"I will be sleeping on the bed and Arhaan will have the privilege to sleep on the sofa and not outside."

The words barely brushed against my consciousness, blurred and distorted. My fingers twitched, wrists stiff and sore.

As sunlight peaking through the curtains finally makes their way on my face, I open my eyes slowly. Groaning at how I felt. I felt awful. There's a slight burning feeling in my chest, my head feels light as if I'm floating, and the muffled sound feels sensitive to my ears. My body sinks into the mattress like it never wants to leave. The weight of the blanket cocooned me, and the air smelled faintly of Arhaan's cologne, lingering on the sheets.

Voices drifted through the haze of sleep, low and familiar.

"Good morning," his voice rumbled, deep and smooth, laced with amusement.

My lashes flutter, and I peek through barely-open eyes. The room was dimly lit. Beside me, Arhaan sat on the edge of the bed - shirtless, his toned back glowing in the soft light. He was smiling, the sharp curve of his mouth almost predatory, as he held a piece of paper between his fingers.

My stomach flipped.

Goosebumps instantly appear on my skin as I stretch, realising the severity of the situation. I'm fully awake now, my mind jogging down yesterday's memory lane.

Oh fuck.

Memories of the night before crashed into me like a wave - his touch, his breath against my skin, the way his name had slipped past my lips like a prayer. My cheeks burns hot, as I instinctively duck beneath the covers, burying my face in the pillow.

"My Sleeping beauty's awake," he teased, glancing over his shoulder.

I squeeze my eyes shut tighter, willing myself to disappear, but then he said it again - the word that made my heart nearly stop.

"Absolute no physical touch."

Oh Hell no.

I shot up, snatching at the paper in his hand, my fingers brushing against his wrist. "Give me that!" I hissed, mortified.
