𓃮 Inayah's pov 𓃮

The moment the laptop clicks shut, the lock turns.

My body moves before my mind fully registers the sound. I dart to the side, pressing myself against the wall, heart hammering as the door swings open.

His footsteps were measured and heavy.

Samarth steps inside, his back to me, completely unaware. My lungs expand and contract in precise control, forcing my breath to stay even.

Stay calm.

Stay calculated.

He walks forward and then he freezes.

Because he sees the chair that I was supposed to be on was now empty, ropes laying on the floor.

I see it happen the moment realization hits. The tension in his shoulders coils like a spring, his fingers twitching before curling into fists.

One second. Two seconds.

And then he turns.

Our eyes meet for the briefest, sharpest moment before I strike.

I don't hesitate.

Hesitation is a weakness. Hesitation gets you killed.

I lunge forward, aiming straight for his throat.

He dodges, barely. His reflexes are sharp....sharper than I expected. Instead of retreating, he pivots, using the momentum to shove me back, his strength evident in the way I skid against the floor.

Fine. I scoff, I like a challenge.

I recover instantly, using the wall behind me to push off and launch myself again. This time, I feint to the right before twisting mid-air, delivering a sharp kick to his ribs.

It lands as he grunts, stumbling backward slightly.

Good. He's not invincible.

But he's fast.

Before my foot even returns to the ground, he retaliates, his fist aiming for my stomach. I barely manage to block it with my forearm, the force of impact rattling through my bones.

Fuck.

He's strong...Stronger than me.

But strength isn't everything.

Speed. Precision. Control. That's what wins a fight. And I'm way better than him in those.

I duck under his next punch, twisting my body to slide behind him, my arm locking around his throat.
