(Sam's POV)

I was perfectly content lying in a ball covered in three blankets up until Dom and his friends entered our dorm room.

I slammed my computer shut upon hearing the doorknob turn, embarrassed even then that I was watching a scary movie by myself and legitimately being terrified of it.

I pulled out my phone just in time to pose like I've been busy texting this whole time.

"Oh my god you guys, tonight was so much fun!" slurred Dom, so obviously drunk already even with it being seven pm.

"That's not even the end of it! There's a party over at the frat house for the incoming freshmen, you should totally come with us!" suggested the curly haired short one.

"I don't know Jc, I'm already pretty buzzed."

The tall one who smiled at me earlier entered the room and his gaze fixated upon me immediately.

"Hi."

I was taken aback that he would ever consider talking to me.

Dom nodded at me. "That's my roommate Sam."

I smiled at them as they came in to greet me. The tallest one sat on the edge of my bed and held out his hand for me to shake.

"I'm Kian Lawley."

"Sam Pottorff."

He surprisingly shook my hand as if it were made of glass, fingers lingering for milliseconds I knew I would later cherish after we broke apart.

"You should come to the party with us!" Kian suggested.

I was hesitant, but he was really hot and I was really sexually frustrated.

"Oh, I don't know..." I begged.

"Pleeeeaaaaasssseeeee," Kian gave me a puppy dog face and batted his eyelashes. He was irresistible.

I gave in.

"Fine!"

Kian and the other guys beamed at me.

"Let's go get fucked up!" Jc shouted and ran out the hall.

The medium height one who I didn't get introduced to yet walked out following him and Kian looked me in the eye. He bit his lip and then linked his arm with mine.

"After you, milady." He joked.

"Shut the fuck up," I laughed.

After we left the room, we could instantly tell where the party was. Music boomed through the yard behind the school and the bright lights revealed a giant frat house.

"Connor! Kian! Jc! How are you bitches?" a girl standing immediately outside the door spoke as we passed. She had curly brown hair and a section of it was dyed bright white.

"Linds!" said the guy supposedly named Connor as he embraced her in a hug.

I felt awkward immediately.

Kian grabbed my shoulder. "This is Sam."

She smiled. "I'm Lindsey Demeola, nice to meet you!"

I could barely hear her over the music. Jc dragged Kian inside and at last second he grabbed my hand and pulled me with them.

It was even more intimidating from the inside. I never thought of myself as a party kid, even if I did get drunk with my friends sometimes, it was never at an actual party.
Parties were strange to me. The whole atmosphere three me off. The peer pressure was overwhelming and everyone did terrible drugs and I was immensely out of my comfort zone.

A popular dance song blasted through the speakers as several boys started screaming at the dj about how great it was. Kian snickered and grabbed my hand. Jc was nowhere in sight as Kian pulled me onto the dancefloor. He had easily the dorkiest dance moves I had ever seen, which strangely made me more attracted to him. He seemed like a generally funny, outgoing, and cute guy to me, and deep in my stomach I could already feel a crush beginning, something with every bone in my body I wished I could erase.

I half expected Kian to get bored of me in any given moment and try and find his friends, or maybe get lucky with some drunken blonde bitch, but to my surprise he stayed by my side the entire night.

The best part of my school was that the classes didn't start until a week after initiation, so parties and socialization were somewhat of a necessity during that time. Before I met Kian and his friends, I would have pegged myself as the top contender to be completely alone in my dorm the whole week.

The night turned into day and I found myself outside of Kian's dorm room a little too tipsy at three a.m.

"I had fun tonight. We should hang out more."

I nodded and smiled. "Definitely."

He handed me his phone and I quickly put my number in, "accidentally" adding a heart emoji next to my name.

He looked at it and smiled down. "Cute,"

I pretended I couldn't hear. "Hm?"

He shook his head. "Nothing."

He did the same in my phone, putting the fire emoji next to his name, definitely on purpose as he put three. He handed it back to me and sighed.

"I'll text you tomorrow. Night." He said, smiling and then went in his room.

"Kian?" I stopped him.

He opened the door again.

"Yes?"

"Nothing. Goodnight," I said, regretting that I was actually going to say something dumb instead. I shook my head and walked down the hall toward my room.

I heard Kian laugh and shut the door, and I knew I fucked it up.

Why do I always do that?

Maybe I didn't, maybe he will text me tomorrow.

Oh well, we'll see.
