As my eyes slowly fluttered open the sound of a car horn continuously sounded in my ears like a siren. I lifted my head up from the steering wheel, a bit confused for a moment as my head began to throb in pain. I looked straight ahead and observed the cracked windshield in front of me. Shards of glass were scattered across the dash board and blood was splattered on the steering wheel and on the shards of glass laying in front of me. I tried to turn my head but an aching pain struck the back of my neck. I could feel tears prick my eyes as I realized what had happened. I crashed the car. I crashed the car because a dog was in the middle of the road. Then I realized something even worse, I'm not the only one in the car.
"Chastity?" I whispered as I very slowly turned my head and fought back the pain that was biting at my neck. My eyes widened at the sight of Chastity leaning against the passenger door with her head leaning against the broken window with her eyes closed. She had a streak of red tattooing her face as it seemed as though one of the flying shards of glass had slashed her across her cheek when the car had collided with the tree.
"Chastity, are you okay?" I tried to say with a groggy voice as I lifted a bloody hand to touch Chastity's arm gently. She didn't move one single muscle. My heart flipped when her eyes didn't open, and her breathing was inaudible. During the crash I seemed to have lost my phone so I unbuckled my seat belt with trembling hands and pushed the car door open. My legs wobbled as I set foot on the road that was now streaked with tire marks from when I swerved the car quickly. I looked down the road to find it empty. We were alone.
I could feel tears running down my cheeks as I limped down the road a few feet before I finally collapsed to the ground. I landed on my already injured knees, sending a painful sting through my legs. I felt like I had just been hit by a bus. My head was throbbing and my legs were aching, my neck felt so stiff that I could hardly move it while my stomach felt like it needed to throw up today's breakfast. I wanted to scream help, I wanted to reverse time so this would have never happened, but I couldn't. Instead I slowly got back up on my feet and just stood there, waiting for somebody to come by. Hoping that somebody will help us.
As I stared down the road and tears began to flow down my face like a river, I heard a growling sound echoing from behind me. For a moment I thought it was just my injured mind playing with me, but then the growling seemed to get louder. I slowly looked over my shoulder, not wanting to move my whole body, and came eye to eye with a violet eyed, grey dog. The dog's teeth were bared and its violet eyes were threatening. The dog edged closer to me as I just stood there with shock. The animal was quite large for a dog and it had specks of dark black on its pale, grey coat...like specks of ash. I reluctantly turned my whole body around with immense pain and stared at the dog. I think I was more emotionless in the time of horror than I have ever been. I think I was just in shock from everything. My heart was beating so loud, I was sure even the dog could hear it.
"Go ahead," I said stepping toward the dog. "Make your move." I didn't even care when the dog barked viciously. I didn't care if the dog lunged at me with those sharp fangs ready to get a taste of my blood. I didn't care if I was eaten alive. I just wanted to go somewhere happy and I wanted all this pain to stop. I hated pain. I hated suffering. Maybe dying would be a good way to end it all. I just killed my best friend anyway, so what do I have to live for now?
Suddenly the sound of a loud engine came roaring down the road. I turned my head to my left and watched a red porche come racing down the road at the speed of at least 80 miles an hour. I dind't even move as I stood in the middle of the road, ready to for my body to slam against the hood of that car and hear the last beating of my own heart. But that’s not what happened. Just as the car became within feet from my body, it swerved quickly and went straight for the grey dog that stood wide eyed in its path. I looked away just as I heard the heart breaking yelp of the dog as its body slammed against the car's windshield. I could hear the screeching of the tires as the porche came to a quick halt and the driver's car door opened.
