8| Ace's Magic

A/N: Sorry if I haven't updated this story. We visited our grandfather's house. This chapter looks kinda 'One Piece' though the 'Ace' here is an Exceed...XD

"Good morning Akari" Ace cheerfully greeted Akari and flew towards her, landing on her lap as she sat up.

"Good morning Ace" Akari yawned, flexing her arms in the air like a dragon prepared for flight and a bit of sharp canine like-teeth. "I'm off"

Nodding, Ace said he was going to make their breakfast.

Akari took a shower and changed her clothes before going to the dining room to eat.

"Here ya go" the Exceed flew towards the table with a tray full of delicious food.

"Thanks. You're a bit excited aren't you?" Akari inquired, jabbing the ham with the fork.

"Not really" Ace shrugged his shoulders, making Akari raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Well, it's obviously who's going to win"

"We're never going to know until the battle ends you know" Akari interjected, flicking the fork at him after she ate the slice of meat.

After eating their food, they left their apartment and headed towards the guild. When they were close to the guild, the heard some noises which came from two people: Natsu and Gajeel.

"Good Morning Natsu, good morning Gajeel" Akari and Ace said.

"Good Morning Akari,so you ready for the fight?" Natsu questioned, his fist pumped.

"Aye! So what time will it start?"

"After we finish eating. We haven't eaten yet"

"Well it's a good thing you remembered to eat before you do anything else. You can't accomplish anything with an empty stomach"

"I think you're going to turn into Erza mode"

"Be right back" Akari waved before leaving the three males together.

"Aren't you two going to order anything" Ace asked them while gesturing at Mirajane.

"I thought it would be better if we ate uhhh... something related to our power" Natsu said.

"You 'thought'?" Gajeel snorted. "I heard Lucy suggesting you about that"

A tick mark appeared on the pinkette's forehead as they started arguing.

When the fight broke up, Gajeel left when Levy was calling him. Probably because she found something Gajeel needed.

"Ace, do you have some matches over there?" Natsu asked.

The Exceed shook his head before lifting his furry finger up. "But I can help you"

Natsu glanced at him with confused eyes until...

"Fire-Make Phoenix"

A ball of fire appeared between the space of Ace's paws before it started turning into a phoenix. Its fiery wings spread out and headed towards Natsu who instinctively consumed the flames.

"Tha-That was awesome!" Natsu exclaimed. "Where did you learn that?"

"I didn't learn that" Ace said. "It's more like I got that"

Natsu cocked his head sideways in confusion. "What?"

Ace sighed. "Back when I haven't met Akari, I never knew I was an Exceed so I was a lonely and hungry stray cat.

There was this kind-hearted old man who said he'll give me some food. He took me to the market asked what I wanted which was apples.

I noticed a strange-looking apple with spirals and told him that's what I wanted. After saying 'thanks' and all, we parted ways and I ate it"

"How did it taste?" Natsu inquired.

"It tasted horrible!" Ace cried, waterfalls of tears leaking out of his eyes. "The taste stayed in my tongue for an hour!"

He sighed before continuing. "I realized that fruit didn't only have a ridiculous taste but also some Magic. There were people after me and there was this one time they had me cornered.

And that's when I met Akari.

- Flashback -

"Neko-chan, try to use it" a soft voice spoke in the midst of the tension.

Ace glanced up to see a young snow-haired girl watching above while she sat on the rooftop with a young blonde boy that had a lightning tattoo(?) over his eye.

The next thing that happened was out of his control, or more like his consciousness.

Fire danced on top of his paws and he sent a lion made out of fire after the men.

As soon as they left, Akari jumped down while Laxus stayed behind.

She told me I was an Exceed and I also had the power to manipulate fire.

"What do we call him now?" Laxus inquired, frightening the young Exceed.

"Kill him?" Akari asked, alarmed. "We didn't have any orders to kill him you blonde idiot!"

A tick mark appeared on the Lightning Dragon Slayer's forehead. "What do you insist we do Miss Goody-Two-Shoes?"

She puffed her cheeks in annoyance.

The two Mages took Ace to their 'boss', the one who gave them the job. The boss only wanted the fruit away from the wrong hands. He made Akari promise to take good care and watch over Ace.

"You're coming with us then right?"

Ace glanced at the girl.

"Where are we going?"

"Home"

As soon as Akari and Laxus returned to Fairy Tail, Ace joined the guild. She thought him everything he needed to know from flying lessons and fire control, of course with the help of the guild members"

The snow-haired lady was lost in deep thought. She breathed in and out to calm her nerves.

"You scared?"

Akari flinched and turned around to see Gajeel who was halfway done eating some metal crowbar.

"I AM NOT SCARED!" Akari yelled, making the Iron Dragon Slayer smirk. When she did calm down, she heaved a sigh and started walking away.

She muttered in a way that Gajeel could hear her, "Just... worried"

He didn't know if he was supposed to be pleased or annoyed.

Was she worried for herself or for them?
