Chapter Four- Captured

The star-filled night combined with the warm summer breeze softly flowed through the valley. Summer was just beginning and with the season came a variety of creatures, animals, monsters. Some hid in plain sight, camouflaged in their surroundings. Others walked blatantly around without a care in the world.

Summer made all of the predators that lurk in the dark — come out, and begin their ritualistic hunting. They say that the season also gives way to all the crazies, the maniacs, the psycho's and the killers. New York was full of predators, and Poughkeepsie? It had it's very own, Serial Killer.

Illuminated headlights danced across the silver guardrail that kept traffic from plummeting over the cliff.

Ryder smirked as he followed behind Marilyn at a distance. It only took a few moments for her car to sputter and die. He slowed as his vehicle approached her on the side of the road, slipped on his charming mask and parked the truck behind her BMW. Turning off his headlights but leaving Ruby purring, Ryder climbed out of the driver's side smiling and stuffing his hands in his pockets and strode over to her.

"Need some help, Ma'am?" Ryder smiled, walking to stand in front of the car.

"I don't know what seems to be the problem. I have no idea what any of this is for," she gestured to parts of the engine.

Ryder chuckled deeply. He knew what the problem was, he was the cause of it, "Let's see if we can't get this fixed for you."

He bent over and proceeded to move things around and after pretending to take a look under the hood, he made his conclusion.

"I see the problem." He grinned out of sight.

He purred as Marilyn bent down to see what the problem was and took the opportunity by shoving his chloroformed soaked handkerchief over her mouth and nose. She struggled to get free but he wrapped his arms around her neck and squeezed her throat tightly, her legs went slack and her eyes lulled, before finally closing.

Quickly, Ryder dragged her to his truck and shoved her inside. He took a clean cloth and wiped off any finger prints on her car. Footprints were erased, every trace of evidence gone, as if he never existed.

He made it look like she had car trouble and vanished without a trace. Getting into his truck, Ryder turned on 'Scream by Avenged Sevenfold' and stepped on the accelerator with a wicked smile on his face. This one, she would soon be begging for the end to come, for the dark death to take her from her pathetic — whore of an existence.

There was nothing more he hated than a cheater.

Pulling up to his simple one-story home, he shut Ruby off and grabbed Marilyn by her waist, carrying her limp body from the truck to his cellar and sat her in the chair. The darkness began to creep into him and he allowed it willingly, eagerly. Marilyn's head lulled to the left, she was waking. Good. She would no doubt be suffering from the effects of the chloroform. A pulsing headache, memory loss, blurred vision, and a gnawing thirst.

Before she could wake completely, he removed her clothes and then proceeded to strap her arms and legs down and then her head, all the while Ryder hummed, taking his time. He grinned as her eyes pried open, blinking away the blurry vision. It's showtime. Within a matter of moments, he watched her whole demeanor change. Her eyes widened, her breathing coming out in shallow pants. He knew her heart was pounding inside her chest, he could see it by the leaping pulse on her neck. Her eyes darted left, right, up, down, cold trepidation washing over her.

Looking towards the ceiling, she screamed. There before her were all the faces of women looking terrified, in pain, or dead. Tears welled up and ran down her cheeks, she knew what was about to happen and that made him grow all the more eager. He chuckled as she tried to wiggle free. "There is no escape. You're wasting your time, so don't bother."
