My eyes open very slowly, light leaking through my lashes terribly. They've barely twitched by the time I hear someone point out that I'm 'awake'. Someone says my name, but it's already hard enough to get any to move. I can feel pairs of eyes on me, watching me. It's uncomfortable. I can't do this with the sun in my way...

"The window," I mumble, sounding drugged as heck. Someone closes the shades and draws the curtains, my eyes finally sliding open painfully. It's still so bright.

"Hey Kitty," Reno grins from the chair by my side. Rude, I can't tell because of those dang shades. Tseng's asleep, surprisingly, on a chair in the back corner. Old guy.

"Hey." My voice sounds bizarre and my mind's fuzzy. Why am I doing in this weird bed anyway? Where are we? Reno seems to read my mind.

"We're in Kalm. We didn't think I was safe for you or Rufus in Midgar, so we asked him when he woke up two days ago."

"I was out for three days?" I ask, all of it coming back. Hojo shooting me, Cid catching me, Rude carrying me away.

"Tyler kept you under lots of drugs and stuff to keep you asleep. He said it'd make the blood replenish better," Reno shrugs. "He unplugged all the #-+$ three hours ago and left. Dunno where to."

"What's with Tseng?"

"Dunno. He's been tired a lot lately."

"Won't be long until he and Rude have the same hairstyle."

"What?"

"I'm kidding."

"Oh. You made me think he was sixty or somethin'."

"You thought he was sexy?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Sixty, Kat."

"Oh. I'm not as scared now."

Rude shakes his head and pushes his glasses back up. Then I remember our real problem.

"How's Meteor?" Reno gives me a weak smile and pulls a curtai back.

"Take a look." It's right there. If I were outside, I could reach my hand up and touch it, it seems. From here, it looks to be hardly two miles away from hitting Midgar. "Ya know, we were out there earlier. Veld and the other Turks paid us a visit. It was weird, being with 'em again, even if it was for a little while."

"Reeve called," Rude speaks up. "Cloud and his party were about to fight Sephiroth when he did."

Just as he says that, the ground starts to shake.

"How long ago was that?" I call over the sound.

"About forty five minutes."

"Great," I huff. "Well, it was nice knowing you, Re." Reno rolls his eyes and looks out at the city that's been my mental prison for my whole life. Meteor pushes to get closer, weak buildings collapsing. Something in the room starts clattering as the giant rock gets closer. A light comes from the Planet, pushing back against Meteor, but it's just slowing the giant mass down. Crap.

"@-+%," Reno mutters.

"Valentine and Kisaragi are in Midgar," Rude pipes up.

"Great," I huff. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, tendrils of light slip out of the surface of the Planet, joining together and flying up toward Meteor.

"What the..." Reno's voice trails off, the light taking over Meteor and blowing it to microscopic pieces. As the world dims and we all stare at the sky in disbelief, my head starts to clear from it's foggy state. They did it. "Holy crap. They did it."
