Prologue- Kitty

Note: Cast does not apply to this chapter

"And here is information about Sector 2. In one month, the Sector Patrol of 2 will come to collect you. Congratulations, Mr. Wycome." You smile at the boy standing before you.

He gives you a small nod, and stands up, knowing that he has been dismissed.

Hm, who's next? You think to yourself, shuffling papers around your desk.

"Hello sir, are you ready for the next juvenile?" Your secretary, Meg, sticks her head into the room.

"No, not yet. Give me a minute Meg." Almost instantly, Meg pulls her head out of the room.

Sighing, you stand up, briskly walking around the office, and looking over the various mountain villages of the 5th Sector. Your head is pounding after staring at a computer screen all day. The sun is setting beautifully in the mountains; the sky turning from a bright blue to a light pink, like a small child's paint palette. You never see sunsets like this in the busy metropolis you call home, The Kingdom. With buildings towering up above, blotting out the rising and setting sun, it is on a rare occasion that you catch a glimpse of a sky as magnificent as this. But here, in this poverty stricken place, every day is like this. Sometimes, you wish you could leave it all behind, move here, but you can't. You have a job.

Crap! You became so wrapped up in your own far off fantasies, that you forgot about giving the results. Flustered, you rush back to your computer, and fumble around to look up who's next.

Raygen Micella.

Not an uncommon name, especially here in the mountains. Wondering what family she has, you scroll to her family tree. Somewhere, maybe 2 or 3 generations ago, someone's name and Level catch your eye. Penelope Spencer. Positive- Your eyes widen, and you gasp a bit- Positive Level 7. The highest Level ever recorded. And it's in her, a measly girl from the 5th Sector's, bloodline.

"Sir, are you ready yet?" Meg asks, looking flustered.

"Um- Of course," You reply, regaining your stone-cold expression, "Send her in."

Meg leaves the room, and within seconds, a petite ten year old girl is in her place.

"Hello Miss Mice-" You start, only to be cut off.

"Tell me my new Sector! Oh, I can't wait to find out! This is so exciting! Most of my friends got sent to 3, I hope I can join them!" Raygen shoots out all in one breath.

Your glasses slip down from resting on the bridge of your nose, and your eyes narrow. Who does this pesky, poor, idiot, 10 year old think she is? Because, she is no one. Especially in the presence of you, a rich, well off Kingdom native, with a bright future full of success ahead of you.

"Miss Micella," You start again, spitting out the words like poison, "I do not know if you are aware of this, but you will not be moving with your friends, you will not move into a new sector."

Her innocent face stares up at you in confusion.

"Wha-What do you mean? I know that if you are Neutral, you move to new Sector, and I'm Netural." She says.

"But you see, that is where you are wrong. You aren't Neutral. You*... are Positive."

Tears. So many tears...

Who knew anyone could cry this much?

"In a month, Postitive Sector 5 Patrol will come and collect you. Congratulations, Miss Micella."

You shove her out the door, and look out the window.

That brat.

She made you miss the sunset.

Author's Notes!

Hi everyone! It's Kitty, with a new story! Yay! I am working on it with my close friend, Theeny (AthenaW_21)! Every other chapter we'll be switching off who writes, so this chapter was me! Sorry this chapter was so short... We are currently working on an updating schedule, so we'll tell you when we have it ready! This story has taken a lot of thought and effort to come up with, so please vote and comment! Also, we will only be updating The Runners on this account, Those_Two_Writers. Please go check out Theeny's profile, because without her every single word would be spelled wrong... (LOL. So true- Theeny). If you haven't noticed, this is being written in second person, so if anyone slips into first or third, please comment and let us know! We're still getting used to writing like this, so help us out! This is also our first collab story, and my first original that I'll be frequently updating! And also, in the fall it might be a bit harder to update (We are Face Timing and I can hear her murdering the space bar, LOL. -Theeny), so expect updates on the weekends! We'll try to update two chapters a week, one by Theeny, and one by me!

That's all for now! Hope you liked the first chapter (Prologue. Get your facts straight! -Theeny) of The Runners!

-Kitty <3

Hello People!

Theeny here. I hope you enjoyed the Prologue of The Runners! I'm co-writing this with CloveMcLean also known as Kitty. And by the way, it was me who added in the footnote thingy (the asterisk- I really don't know what it's called...) Oh, by the way, Kitty did a lot of this chapter. I just kinda followed along editing her terrible spelling, grammar and punctuation. This is our joint account and the only place that this will be updated. But still... Go check out both of our accounts! AthenaW_21 and CloveMcLean!!!

LOL, it's kinda funny. Kitty's author's note is so long and mine is just like "Sup Guys." I'm so SWAG (I never use that word).

Love and Thanks,

Theeny
