Joy-Anna's p.o.v.
I woke up the next day feeling happy because it's a brand new day. I opened my window and breathed in the fresh air. Then I remembered I had to go to school. I sighed. I went into my bathroom and brushed my hair.
I decided to curl it today. I put on a little bit of makeup that the previous owner of the house had left here. They had left quite a lot of stuff. Including clothes. I decided to put on a pink knee length skirt and a blue T-shirt that had a sparkly heart on it. The sleeves were a bit ruffled and I thought it was pretty.
I hope everybody else does too. As I came into the kitchen, I smelled turkey bacon, the only kind of bacon we eat, cooking. It smelled so good right now. Heck it would smell good anytime! My stomach growled. I smiled and walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning Joy." John said as he tried to flip pancakes and bacon at the same time.
I laughed. "Good morning to you to." I said in between giggles.
He just shook his head, "Girls."
"Boys." I said shaking my head.
He rolled his eyes. Ooo is this a sass contest?
Just the thought of it made me start laughing all over again. I don't know why I'm so hyper. John just silently shook his head.
"Where's Jackson?" I asked, he's normally up and ready by now.
"Probably still sleeping." John said.
"You haven't woken him up yet?! We have to leave in 15 minutes!" I exclaimed.
"Fine than can you go wake him up for me?" John asked.
I nodded and went over to his room. As I passed the bathroom I heard a noise and looked over just in time to see Jackson puking up his guts. I covered my eyes. I hate puke.
"John come here!" I yelled, still not opening my eyes.
"I'm kinda busy!" He yelled back.
"Jackson's puking!" I yelled louder.
"Okay just a second!" He yelled, finally getting it.
He came over about 30 seconds later after Jackson had finished puking.
He got a piece of toilet paper and wiped Jackson's mouth with it, and flushed the toilet. A thought occurred to me.
"John who's gonna stay with him?" I asked. He frowned.
"I have no clue." He responded.
"We could ask a neighbor." I suggested.
John shook his head," They're both old ladies that can barely take care of themselves."
"Well should I stay home?" I asked hopefully.
He shook his head again. "Of course not, you're going to school." He said firmly.
I shrugged, it was worth a try.
"I guess I'll have to stay home." He said.
"But John don't you have work?" I asked.
He nodded, "I guess I'll just have to take a day off."
That's not gonna be good, he just started the job and this isn't a very good way to prove himself.
"Can you walk to school Joy?" John asked.
"Yeah I'll be late though." I responded.
He shrugged,"Better late then never." He said.
Well I guess I'll skip breakfast because I don't have time to eat. I got my turquoise backpack and headed out the door.
I saw that girl Hannah walking to school too. She waved at me. I waved back. I started walking over towards her.
"Hi Hannah." I said cheerfully.
"Hi Joy." She said, equally cheerful.
We started talking about random things and then I saw another girl come over. She was the one who made fun of me yesterday. Danielle I think.
"Hi Hannah." She said, completely ignoring me.
"Hi Danielle." Hannah replied.
Danielle turned and finally noticed me. She scowled.
"What are you doing with the pilgrim loser Hannah, you're better then that." Danielle said, sounding disappointed.
"I'm not a pilgrim or a loser actually." I responded.
I won't let her get on my nerves. She rolled her eyes.
"Of course not." She said sarcastically and walked off.
"Just ignore her, she doesn't like new people very much. She's afraid they'll " steal her spotlight"." Hannah said, making air quotes with her hands.
We walked the rest of the way in silence. When we finally got there I hurried off to homeroom then to algebra. I hate math. I rushed in and took a seat. Oh wonderful, Danielle is in here. Note the sarcasm.
She was sitting and gossiping to her friends. I tried to be invisible but it didn't work.
"Oh look who it is!" She said, smirking. I ignored her.
"Ewww do you ever take showers?" One of her friends asked, holding her nose.
"Do you were make up? Cause you need it!" Another girl said. The whole group burst out laughing.
"Awww I guess the cats got her tongue. Or maybe it's all those brothers and sisters." One said mockingly.
"Yeah and why don't they live with you again? Are they too ashamed of you?" Danielle jeered.
I wanted to cry, but I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. "Yes, yes, no I don't need it, no, no, long story, and no." I said quickly with new confidence.
They all looked at me confused like they thought I wouldn't talk back.
"You will pay for that." Danielle whispered angrily. I wasn't worried. They didn't scare me.
I felt someone pat my back. I turned around. It was a girl with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes.
"Hey that was pretty cool. No one ever stands up to them." She said. "My name's Ryan." She said.
" I'm Joy-Anna, but you can call me joy." I said happily.
"I know." Ryan said, as if it was a proven fact.
"How?" I asked. "Everybody's talking about you. They all think your weird. I think your cool. I have 11 siblings so I see where you're coming from. Although I am confused why you're here alone." Ryan said.
"I'm not alone, two of my brothers are with me." I replied.
"Still it's weird why only one seventh of your family is here." She shrugged.
"It's a long story." I said apologetically. "It's alright. You can tell me later." She said.
"Maybe." I said distantly.
"Alright class, open your books to page 8 to problem 51." Ms. Allison, our math teacher, commanded.
I sighed.
"We'll talk at lunch, kay?" Ryan whispered.
"Kay." I agreed. Finally I had a friend! I couldn't wait till lunch.
