4 year old, Emily Courson ran through the little living room of the cottage they were staying at. Em's 5 year old cousin, Lexy Baldwin, ran after her. Emily had medium length, thick blonde hair, with bright blue eyes. She looked like her mother, who had just passed away from a rare disease that had no cure. Lexy on the other hand, looked just like her father, long brown curly hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her mother had passed too, in fact Emily and Lexy's mother's were twins with the same disease.

"Sweethearts, can y'all please not run through the house. We're trying to work and we don't want you to get hurt." Mr. Baldwin said. The little girls nodded and went to draw at the table.

"Lex? What's Daddy and Uncle B doing?" Em asked, her eyes shinning curiously.

"I don't know, Em, but maybe we'll get to hear one of their stories tonight." Little Lexy said. She loved story time, almost as much as she loved being outside.

"Ooh I love story time!" Emily said, drawing a little family on her paper. She still didn't fully under stand where her Mama and Aunt went. She thought they were on vacation somewhere, and would be back sometime soon. Lexy somewhat knew they were gone, that they wouldn't be back, but she didn't want to damage her cousin's hope.

They spent a few hours at the table until Uncle B, Lexy's dad, and Uncle J, Emily's dad, called for bedtime.

"All right you two monkeys, time for bed!" Uncle B called, walking over to the table where they were sitting.

"Daddy! Can we have story time?" Lexy screamed, while he picked her up and started to carry her upstairs. Uncle J was carrying Little Em too.

"Yeah, Uncle B, can we?" Her voice rang out. The two men looked at each other and shook their head.

"Well, not tonight, Sweeties. Me and Uncle J have a lot of work to do, and we need our little monkeys well rested." Uncle B tried to explain. They've been working on a particularly hard case lately, and haven't had time to play with the girls.

"Okay Daddy, I love you," Lexy said, hugging Uncle B, then Uncle J. "Night, Uncle J, love you too."

"Night Daddy, night Uncle B," Emily called, already covered up. The men walked out of the room and back to the table with the case.

"Night, Lex, I love you," Em said aloud.

"Night, Em, love you too," Lexy said, and the girls drifted off with sweet dreams.

*9 years later*

"Okay, Lex, I need you to watch out for your little cousin, we should be back soon, if all goes to plan." Uncle B said. Lexy was used to this, she had been doing it since she was 10, as she is now 14.

"I'll watch out for her, Daddy, but be careful. You too, Uncle J, don't get hurt," Lexy said.

Emily hugged her Dad and then Uncle B. "Please be careful, Daddy and Uncle B."

"We will, you know what to do if anything happens, both of you. I'll see you later, Sweeties." Uncle J said. The men jumped into the '77 creme GTO, and drove off.

Emily looked over at Lexy. "I wish we could go with them, Lex. I want to protect people too."

"We will be able to do it when we're older, Em. It's dangerous, and you could get hurt." Lexy kept it hid that she really wanted to go too. She always dreamed of going to help them on a hunt, but was unable. Besides, she didn't mind watching Emily.

"One day, we're going to be the best hunters out there, Lex. I know it." Emily said. Lexy just looked over at her cousin and grinned.

Hours had passed, and the girls were trying to keep their minds off their fathers. All of a sudden Lexy got a feeling in her gut, like something bad happened. She glanced over at Em and seen the same look cross her face.

"Lex, something's wrong. I just have a feeling," Emily blurted out.

"Em, I've got that feeling too. I'm sure it's just our imagination though. It's going to be okay, just don't worry." Lexy said. She had to stay calm, to set an example for her little cousin. The truth was, she was flipping out. The last time she had this feeling, she found put that her Mama and Aunt May was sick.

Lexy started to color with Emily, trying to keep calm. Then the cell phone Uncle B and Uncle J always left in case of an emergency, started to ring. The girls shot up and ran towards the phone.

The Caller ID said it was from somebody named Mack. Emily looked at Lexy, confused, while Lexy racked her brain for the name. Finally she remembered her Dad saying to always answer the phone if someone named Mack called, so she did just that.

"Hello?" Lexy said, hesitantly.

"Is this Lexy or Emily?" A rough voice said on the other end. Lexy put it on speaker phone.

"Yeah, this is Lexy and Emily. You are?" Lexy said.

"I'm an old family friend, and I'm sorry to say I have bad news." The man said.

"And what's that, sir?" Emily piped up.

"Well, uh, I was helping your dads on a hunt, and, um, something happened." The voice said.

"What happened, sir?" Lexy said, her tone dark. She knew what happened, and she didn't want Emily to find out like this.

"Both of your fathers died. I'm sorry, but they put me in charge of you. I'm coming out to where you are and I'll watch you until you are able to fend on your on." The man said. Emily covered her mouth and stifled a sob. Lexy teared up, but held it in for the most part.

"Okay, when will we be expecting you?" She asked.

"Should be tomorrow morning," the rough voice said.

"Yes sir. See you tomorrow." Lexy said and hung up the phone. She took Emily to the couch and they both sat down.

"I can't believe they're gone, Lex. We have no family left. It's just us now." Emily cried. Lexy hugged her and let the tears flow.

"Em, it's okay. We'll be fine together. Maybe we can finally be sisters now." Lexy said, trying to find something positive.

"I already consider you my sister, Lex." Emily said.

Lexy hugged her and didn't let go. They woke up to someone hammering on the door. Lexy quietly got up and peeked out the window, only to be greeted with an older man. Emily was still asleep so she had to get him to keep quiet.

"Sir, are you Mr. Mack?" Lexy said, opening the door. The man looked down at her and smiled.

"Why yes, little lady, I am," he said. He had dark hair with hints of grey in it. His blue eyes seemed vaguely familiar.

"Well, come in, sir. But please, keep it down. My. . .my sister is asleep." Lexy said. She decided that if it was just them, she was going to claim Emily as her sister. The man gave her a funny look, but walked in none the less.

A little while later, Emily woke up and Mr. Mack introduced himself. We got along just fine the first day and many after that. The girls and the man grew closer the longer they stayed together.

The girls planned to leave when Lexy turned 16 and got her driver's license. Then they could start hunting themselves. As much as the girls loved Mr. Mack, they had to go. They had to get out and continue what their fathers started.

The day came when Lexy got her license, so the girls said goodbye to Mr. Mark. Emily had her learners permit but could pass as a 16 year old, so she drove her Dad's wine black '67 Impala. Lexy drove her Dad's '77 creme GTO. They had their bags packed and had a plan to go to Georgia. It wasn't very far, as they were in Alabama.

Lexy and Emily drove from the little cabin, leaving behind their childhood. Heading to a future that holds he knows what. And this, my friends, is where their story starts. . .
