Inside the room, the air was still.

Zhan sat on the bed, his hands resting on his lap. His eyes were calm, his voice soft. He wanted to believe in Yibo.

“Yibo… who was that girl?” he asked gently.

Yibo looked at him, confused.

“What girl?”

“The girl who dropped you home.” Zhan’s voice remained steady.

“Oh… that was Lusi, my co-worker,” Yibo answered simply. “She gave me a ride.”

Zhan nodded slowly. He didn’t ask anything else because he trusts Yibo & thinks that the girl has done it ,  not Yibo .

A Few Days Later

Days passed. Everything seemed normal.

One afternoon, Yubin came to visit Zhan.

They sat together, chatting casually.

Yubin was happy to see that things between Yibo and Zhan were peaceful. With a big smile, he said, “I really hope you give birth to a healthy baby soon.”

Zhan laughed softly. “I hope so too.”

Then, Yubin shared something unexpected.

“By the way,” he said excitedly, “Wang Yizhou and I… we’re going on a date tomorrow.”

Zhan’s eyes widened. “What?! Really?”

Yubin grinned. “Yeah.”

Zhan listened carefully as Yubin explained how everything happened. He smiled, wishing them good luck.

The conversation was light, happy.

But the happiness didn’t last long.

That evening, Zhan received a picture on WeChat.

It was from yubin.

When he opened it, his breath caught in his throat.

In the picture, Yibo was standing on the street.

A girl was holding his hand.

And that girl was none other than Lusi.

Zhan’s fingers trembled slightly.

He was already in his ninth month of pregnancy. His delivery date was near.

His emotions were all over the place.

And now this…

He closed the chat without replying.

His mind was racing. He couldn't control himself.

Zhan texted to Yubin. “  What they're doing ?”

Yubin frowned. “I don’t know. But I did see them today, near a restaurant in that alley.”

Zhan took a deep breath. “Are they still there?”

Yubin hesitated. “It’s risky for you to go, Zhan. But… yeah, I think they’re still there.”

Zhan didn’t wait.

He grabbed his coat.

Even though it was dangerous for him to go out alone, he didn’t care.

Carmen Lee wasn’t home—otherwise, she would never let him leave.

Zhan booked a cab and left.
