The Library

Brian:

I sat in the library, trying to concentrate on my homework for English. I tapped my pencil on the table, getting pissed. I looked over to the other side of the library. Jesse and Kayleen were giggling and whispering behind books. Kay stood up and walked to a shelf. She put a book back and Jesse came up behind her. He looked around then turned her around and put a book to block their faces and he clearly kissed her. She put her hands on his waist and she turned back to the shelf.

I groaned  and turned away. I still felt so bad about our fight. We havent talked since then. That was three days ago. Each night Kay just closed her curtins and went to bed.

I was lost in my thoughts when I realized my other group of friends eyeing me suspiciously. Michelle, Patrick, Gwyneth, and Diego were the popular jocks like me. Gwyneth elbowed me. I looked at her. She passed me a note.

Dude, What is wrong with you? You seem down.

I wrote back: Nothing. Just stressed.

I passed it back to her. She read it and clicked her pen.

I know something is wrong , so don't pull that one.

I looked at her. She gave me a knowing look.

Look, it's nothing.

I passed it back to her. She scribbled on it for a second or two then pushed it back.

Yeah right.

I rolled my eyes and got up.

I went to a laptop and signed on. I scrolled through Google and found a website that had to do with writing a good essay. I really sucked at it, and I needed help. 

An ad popped up on the side of the screen. It had a couple on hit with a pink background and hearts all around it,  "Hate seeing her with him? Click here to find how to win her back!"

I slammed it shut and picked up my bag and almost ran out. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned and Michelle was jogging toward me. 

"Brian, whats up with you man? Your acting crazy."

"Its nothing, Michelle."

She rolled her dark green eyes. And pulled her long black hair into a ponytail. It reminded me of Kay's and I got angrier.

"I'm sure it is, Brian. Look I gotta run to practice. Call me if you need anything. I expect answers from you." she said pointing a finger at me as she left. She was a good friend like all of them, but they didnt come close to Kay.

I sighed and walked to the parking lot. 

"Brian!" a voice called. I turned and Kay ran toward me. I blinked at her. The sun was in my eyes so I barely knew what she was doing when she hugged me. 

"I'm sorry! I've been acting like such a bad friend! I've been all wrapped up in Jesse and me that I totally lashed out at you. Im sorry! Please forgive me!"

"It's fine Kay." I said smiling down at her.

"No it's not. You know what, I'm gonna take you to a sports shop. You can get anything you want. I'm paying. And then I'm going to help you practice. Maybe you could teach me some things." she said smiling.

"Sure Kay. When can we go?"

"How about straight after school?"

"Sounds good." I replied.

She hugged me again and walked away. I watched her as she went. Jesse followed shortly. He gave me a small timid smile. I glared in return.

'Hey." Dani sadi appearign by my side.

"Hey." I said kissing her lightly.

"What are you so happy about?" she said smiling.

"Nothing." I said looking at Kay as she got further down the hall.

Dani looked at Kay and her eyes darkened. I'd never seen her act this way. I'd always known that Kay didnt like Dani, but I always though Dani liked Kay. She had always been so nice when we were together. Her eyes seemed to twinkle when she saw her. But no they darkened.

"Oh, I see. Hey, wanna see a movie tomorrow? Maybe we could sit in the back...." she said putting her hands on my neck.

"Sorry, Dani, but Kay's taking me to a sports-like outing." I said smiling.

She dropped her hands and she looked at me with a hurt expression on her face. My smile faded as I looked at her. Her blue earring her contrasting with her blonde hair.

"You know I wish you'd do stuff like that with me."

"I do stuff like this with you." I said kissing her lightly.

"Oh, that's right." she said smiling and kissed me back.

Kayleen:

This was good. I've been acting like such a bad best friend. Now that we have something scheduled for tomorrow, I felt better. I walked down the hall and passed Brian's other friends, Patrick, Michelle, Gwyneth, and Diego. They were my friends too and they always were there for me. They all greeted me and I smiled back.

I pushed open the door to the library and saw Jesse sitting at our table.

"Hey, Jesse, I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow." I said grabbing my bag and kissed him lightly.

"Alright. Bye."

I picked up my skate board and walked out the door. I sometimes rode it to school when I was in a hurry or just felt like it. Brian had one just like mine, Black top and orange bottom that had our names on it. He didn't use his as much as I used mine.

I hopped on it and pushed myself forward. I loved the feel of the wind in my hair and the speed I got form it. I turned onto a street and saw a boy about Brian's age walking toward me.

"Look out!" I yelled.

He looked over, eyes widened. I tried to stop, trying to slam my foot on the ground but just fell into him.

Pain shot through me as I crashed into him. He groaned his head moved slowly.

"i am so sorry." I said quickly, embarrased."

"It's fine, couldve been worse."

"I'm Kay Reily."

"Neil Halden. Its nice to meet you Kay."

"Nice to meet you to- Neil Halden?"

"Yes?"

"That name sounds so familiar." I tried to remember where he was from but just couldnt put my finger on it.

"Yeah. I-I mean it does sound familair to other names i guess."

"Sorry. Im just trying to figure out where I've seen you before. Anyway, are you going to this high school?" I motioned behind me to the building.

"Yeah I start tomorrow." he smiled.

"Well look for me."

"Will do."

"Well bye Neil." I smiled before skating off.
