Natalie waited outside the office door and composed herself, she wanted to talk to Erin but was unsure how to broach the subject. Julia was out for the morning finalising the rental contract for her house, Charlotte had suggested that rather than oversee the letting herself she operate through a reputable letting agency, sure there was a fee but it takes all the stress out of it. The family trust had properties rented out in such a way. With Julia out Natalie decided that it would be a good time to approach Erin. She knocked the door and waited for the 'enter' permission. Opening the door and stepping in she curtseyed and requested permission to talk, Erin had got used to this now and rather liked it. 'Good morning Natalie' and indicated to pull up a chair, like Charlotte she knew this was the sign that she could talk openly, even so she was a bit on edge so decided to come out with it.
'With respect Mistress will you be giving Charlotte disciplinary privileges on our maid days?'. Erin should play poker, she gives nothing away and said 'I only talk about school days on school days and it will be the same for maid business where enquiries will be passed through Charlotte', she paused 'however since this is all new to you and Julia I will permit a question this time'. Erin could see Natalie was nervous as she shifted slightly in the chair. 'will you be giving disciplinary duties to Charlotte?' Erin sat back in the leather swivel chair and said 'It is under consideration but I have not yet made the decision'. That was not actually true, Erin had not even thought of that but why not let Natalie stew a little. She would not actually give Charlotte that right because Charlotte would not want it. She knew that because when they started down this path she had offered to let Charlotte spank her too and was very relieved that Charlotte declined the offer and on more than one occasion.
Erin changed tack 'I have the report from Charlotte on yours and Julia's first day as maids yesterday', Natalie shifted uneasily again so Erin stretched out the pause. 'Charlotte says that you and Julia did very well and completed the tasks assigned', Natalie's face lit up, 'carry on like that and there will be no need for discipline'. Erin looked at her Mother who had been right, the change of name had worked, it did separate the past from the present. Natalie regarded Mistress Erin, she naturally thought of her that way, even as a child she was inscrutable, you could never tell what she was thinking. Charlotte had seen things clearly and told Natalie that the seemingly dominant Emma had always done what her late loved hubby wanted. She realised that to be true now and recognised some of his traits in Erin. Erin was steely and unreadable and had a genuine authority which Emma only had as an outer layer that had now been comprehensively washed away. Natalie stood, curtseyed and said 'Thank you Mistress', she got an odd feeling of pleasure doing so that she could not define. In some ways it was as if David had returned in an openly dominant form, oh how she wished David had been like this.
When Julia got back she gave Natalie a hug and kiss then said 'I need to talk to Mistress about the agency', Natalie left her to it feeling whatever it was it was business and she should not be present.
Julia knocked the office door to be told 'enter', she curtsied 'good afternoon Mistress'. Erin looked up 'what can I do for you Julia?' and indicated the chair that Natalie had vacated an hour ago. Julia went over what had gone on with the agent, Erin knew she was getting to a point and let her ramble. Eventually Julia got round to it 'I would like my house taken into the family portfolio'. Erin was surprised but did not show it simply saying 'bring Natalie in here and ask Charlotte to attend'.
The three sat before Erin who repeated what Julia had requested 'the family trust is exactly that, for family members only, the rules are explicit and Julia is not a family member' Julia looked crestfallen. Erin went on 'I have considered this and the way round it is for you, Julia and Natalie, to marry', you could have heard a pin drop 'which would make Julia a family member'. Charlotte hid her smile behind her hand as Julia and Natalie were initially stunned and then broke into broad smiles. Erin let the moment rest a little then said 'so who is proposing to who', It was Natalie who got down on one knee and proposed to a tearfully happy Julia who of course accepted. Erin was genuinely pleased for them and from a practical point of view would tighten her control.
