chapter 13 and last

--Rosario--

I was walking home alone after meeting with P’Sean, P’White, and P’Black. We had talked about Todd and his mysterious love interest, and I was supposed to find more information about him.

But before I could do anything…

A car stopped in front of me.

Before I could react, someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth. I struggled, kicked, and tried to scream, but the person was too strong. Everything went dark.

--Black--

I was at the garage with the others, drinking coffee and trying to act normal. My mind was still spinning from everything Rosario had told us about Todd.

Was he really in love?

And why did it bother me so much?

I hated him.

But I also...

"Hey! Where’s Rosario?" White’s voice interrupted my thoughts.

We looked around. She was supposed to be here by now.

Then my phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

I answered.

"Black, it's me."

My heart stopped.

Todd.

"TODD, WHERE IS ROSARIO?!" I shouted, making everyone turn to me.

"Relax, she’s safe. I just wanted to talk."

I clenched my fist.

"Talk?! YOU KIDNAPPED A SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL, YOU PSYCHO!"

"I knew you’d react like this." He sighed. "That’s why I had to do it this way. Just come meet me. Alone."

The others were already on their feet, listening closely.

"Where?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"I’ll send the location."

The call ended.

"Black, you can’t go alone," White said immediately.

"Of course, I’m not going alone. We’re ALL going."

--Rosario--

I woke up tied to a chair in a dark room.

Todd sat in front of me, smirking.

"Sorry about this, Nong. I didn’t have much choice."

I laughed with him. "You think this will work? The others are already on their way?"

"Yes." He smiled. "Everything is working."

After a few minutes, there was a sound of a car parking.

"They're here," Todd said, standing up.

--Black--

We stormed into the abandoned warehouse Todd had sent us to.

"ROSARIO!" Sean called out.

"I’M HERE!" She shouted.

We ran inside and found her tied up, but before we could get to her, Todd stepped in front of us.

"Let her go, Todd," White said coldly.

Todd smirked. "I will. But first, I need to talk to Black."

Everyone looked at me.

"You bastard," I growled, stepping forward. "You made me come all the way here for what? To kill me?"

Todd’s smirk faltered. "You know I’d never do that."

"Do I?" I scoffed. "You tried to before."

He clenched his jaw. "And I regret it every day."

I was stunned. Todd NEVER apologized.

"But you wouldn’t understand, would you?" He continued bitterly. "You’re Black. Strong, fearless, untouchable. You never needed me."

I felt my anger fading into something else.

Something terrifying.

"You think I never needed you?" I stepped closer. "You were my best friend, Todd. You were the ONLY person who saw ME. Not White. Not my twin. ME."

Todd looked away. "I know."

"Then why did you betray me?"

"Because I was scared!" He finally shouted. "I was scared because you made me feel things I wasn’t supposed to feel! And instead of dealing with it, I hurt you."

My breath caught in my throat.

"What?" I whispered.

Todd took a shaky breath. "I loved you, Black. I still do."

*Silence.*

I forgot about everyone else in the room. It was just me and him.

"...I loved you too," I admitted. "But you broke me, Todd."

"I know," he said softly. "But... can we start over?"

I stared at him.

And for the first time in years, I saw the Todd I used to know.

I took a deep breath. "Let Rosario go, and we’ll talk."

He nodded. "Deal."

--Rosario--

After Todd let me go, I explained everything to the group—about Todd’s feelings for Black, my plan, and why I had tried to get them to talk.

Everyone was shocked. But surprisingly… no one was angry.

"You’re smarter than I thought, Nong," White said with a smirk.

"Thanks, P’White," I said proudly.

"And you," I turned to Black and Todd, "it’s about time you idiots talked things out."

Todd chuckled. "Yeah, yeah."

Black just rolled his eyes. "Whatever, Nong."

I grinned.

Then suddenly, Gram cleared his throat.

"Uh... since we’re all admitting things today..." He looked at Yok.

Yok raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"We’re dating."

Everyone stared.

Sean immediately started clapping. "FINALLY!"

White sighed. "Took you guys long enough."

Yok blushed. "Yeah, yeah, shut up."

I smiled. After everything, at least there was a happy ending.

And maybe...

A new beginning.
