Chapter 7: Hermione

Once McGonagall announced our names, the competitors stood from their table. We were going to speak with the teachers in a back room, where we were told we'd have a private dinner.

As I was about to follow behind Annabeth, Harry stopped me. "Hermione, wait! You need to let me do this!"

"Why? Harry, you get to do everything! Let me do something for myself for once! Besides McGonagall chose me for a reason, yes?" He seemed to stunned to do anything, so I continued behind Annabeth.

Inside the room sat a large round table with enough seats for every competitor and their head of house, plus the headmistress of course. We were then instructed to sit by our Head of House. So Percy sat on either side of my me and Annabeth.

"Welcome competitors! Are you all excited?" McGonagall squealed. A roll of heads nodded. I turned to look at Annabeth, and she was staring inquisitively at Luna Lovegood. Weird, I'll have to ask her about that later. "We, the teachers, have been trying to think of ideas to get the year exciting for the student body. When Perseus thought you all should have a tournament of games, like they apparently have at their camp school. Once it was agreed upon, the Heads of House chose two students to participate."

"Then why were the new transfers chosen, uh no offense, but they haven't been here all that long?" I wonder aloud.

"I assured the heads that the Camp Half-Blood students can take care of themselves perfectly fine." Professor Jackson reassured.

"So if I may ask, Professor, why did you choose me?"

"Uh, please, call me Percy. Same goes for all of you. And Hermione, I chose you for multiple reasons. Firstly being, you're the only other Gryffindor I know the name to. Secondly, you showed kindness towards me when your friends chose not to, and that took bravery. I believe you can do this Hermione."

I had no idea that this new professor believed in me so much already. No wonder Annabeth likes him (it's quite obvious isn't it?). He's charming and handsome. Woah! Calm down there girl! You like Ronald!

"Once dinner is over your head of house will give you a hint on the first task at hand." Headmistress McGonagall then announced for dinner to be served.

Later after dinner, we met Percy by his room like he asked.
Annabeth and I made small talk until Percy returned. "So you like Percy?"

"What?!" Her face paled.

"It's super obvious you have a crush on the professor!"

"Uh.. Promise me you won't tell anybody that okay?"

"Yes, of course. My lips are sealed."

At that moment Percy walked up,"Hey guys!"

"So?"

"So what?"

"The clue for the first task, Seaweed Brain!" Annabeth giggled at the handsome professor.

"Oh right!" His hand found sudden interest in the crook of his neck. "I can tell you that the first task will have to deal with wisdom and intelligence."

What?! That tells us nothing! Where as I looked utterly lost, Annabeth was nodding her head and smiling mischievously.

Maybe I should have let Harry do the competition for me!

A/N: 521 words for this chapter! Yay!! I want to continue but it's almost midnight where I am, and I'm exhausted. However I will try to update again tomorrow or whenever!
