Sandstone wandered through the forest by the school, staring out at the sun as it was slowly blocked out by the mountains. Where are the other Outclaws??? There hasn't been a single sign of them.
The crickets started chirping, filling the air with noise. "The desert would never be this loud. With all the frogs, and crickets, and birds."
He started flying up the mountain, taking in the scenery. Two of the moons were full, but the third one was nowhere to be seen. Sandstone landed on a path leading up to the entrance into the school. "Stop staring at me!!!!! He yelled for no reason at the moons. They just starred at him, as if he was some little insect being hunted by a hungry toad.
Sandstone was halfway up the path when a hissing, crackling, and burning noise filled the air. He ducked, and a tan colored statue sailed over him. Fire burst out of its feet, almost hitting his face, but he jumped back, roaring. The statue turned around, making a disturbing rumbling noise he as sure was laughing. Then, to his surprise, the statue flew off into the forest, leaving a trail of smoke behind it. He heard it land with a crash.
I need to go warn everyone. He started running, getting ready to leap into the air and fly the rest of the way. He leaped, and was grabbed in the middle of the air and hurled into a tree. It was another statue, and two more stood behind it. "Oh come on!" Sandstone breathed Fire into the nearest ones face, and started running. As another leaped at him, he ducked, and as it landed, jumped on its head, and kept running. Three moons, where are you all coming from?!?!?!
All of the sudden, another statue loomed in front of him, hissing. Camel farts!!! He jumped to the side, taking flight. Got to get to the feeding area. There's an entrance there. He didn't look behind himself, even as the air was filled with roaring flames, and he could tell they were right behind him. He zoomed down then, right above the trees. As a statue came down after him, he grabbed it by the horns and threw it into the trees. The other statues hung back, still racing after him.
He finally landed in the feeding area, immediately beginning to run. Out of nowhere, a statue crashed into him, and he heard a bone or two snap and crack. Three moons, they're in the school again! The statue nocked him out of the feeding area, and he went sailing through the air, the wind making a whistling sound in his ears. Then, he landed with a crashing and cracking noise into the leaves and branches of a tree, and then onto the dirt and grass covered ground.
His wings were torn a little, some of his ribs were definitely cracked, and he felt a trickle of blood coming out of some of the edges of one of his horns, which he suspected might be cracked.
He managed to stand, and limped out into a small field, surrounded by trees. The sun just set. Everyone's going to start going to sleep now. Oh Camel farts can a Nightwings mind reading reach this far out? And all the Nightwings are young so they might not have full powers and-
Sandstone slowly spun around, not sure what to do. Six statues surrounded him, blocking any escape into the forest, and he knew his wings wouldn't get him into the air right now, not without someone else's help. The statues all hissed, slowly walking towards him.He ducked, and crashed into the side of one statue, mocking it into another one. He raced for the woods, and as a statue leaped at him, he grabbed it's head and banged it onto a tree until it cracked a little, and then he ran into the maze of trees, trying to loose his attackers. He didn't stop, not wanting to fight anymore. His shoulder was bleeding, and he panted.
Finally, he stopped to rest. The crickets had stopped singing, leaving the night eerily quiet. What am I supposed to do? If I try and go back, they'll murder me!
In the distance, the sound of branches snapping, burning and hissing was growing by the second. Sandstone went in the opposite direction, stopping at a large pond, which reflected the glow of one of the moons. Maybe I can hide in there like at the Scorpion Den! He leaped into the water, which felt freezing cold, and tried to keep as still as possible. The statues passed by, fire bubbling the water. Then, they zoomed off, flying in the direction of the school. Waiting a few more seconds, he went up to get some air, and go warn everyone. But he couldn't lift his legs. He looked down to see that they were both covered in ice, securing them to the ground. Camel crud, how did that happen?!?! He started clawing at the ice, but then cold metallic talons grabbed his arms, and ice began to grow over him. He yelled, trying to breath fire under the water. For a split second, he saw another face starring back at him, and then the ice went up over his face, and he blacked out.
