Georgia was, by no one's standards, a large person. While she wasn't petite, she prided herself on her ability to take up as little space as possible, tucking her limbs close and sucking in only as many breaths as necessary. At night, she would press herself against the wall, careful not to steal the blankets or wind the sheets around her ankles.
Burt was, by everyone's standards, a large person. Even though he wasn't as thick or as wide as his gruff and sturdy relatives, he had the ability to absorb the energy in the room, to smile wider and laugh louder than previously thought possible. At night, he would sprawl, throw hairy arms and hairier legs in every direction.
The first night Georgia and Burt spend together, his elbow lands on her face, and she's too polite to move. Georgia tries to get closer, to tug the blankets ever so slightly in her direction, so he won't notice.
The second night Georgia and Burt spend together, the next night, she ends up wrapped in the entire duvet, because he's too crazy about her to pull it from her sleeping grip. He stays as still as possible, so she won't wake up in his arms, and plants a sloppy kiss on the back of her head.
