4 months into the pregnancy

Ally's POV:

The morning sun streamed through the blinds as I stretched in bed, a soft yawn escaping my lips.

I looked over at Joe, who was already awake, his gaze distant. I could tell that he was nervous, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the edge of the mattress.

"Hey," I said softly, reaching out to touch his hand, "It's just a scan. It'll be fine."

Joe met my eyes and smiled weakly. "I know. I just want to make sure you're both ok."

I squeezed his hand. "We'll be fine, stop worrying so much or the baby is going to kick you."

And with that, he finally relaxed and laughed. He leaned in and kissed my forehead, his warmth reassuring.

The day seemed to fly by. Before we knew it, we were at the ultrasound clinic, our hearts racing as we sat together in the waiting room.

Suddenly, the OBGYN entered, a warm smile on her face.

"Ready to see your baby?" she asked.

I nodded, trying to steady my breath as I laid back on the examination table.

Joe's hand never left mine, squeezing it every time the OBGYN moved the wand over my belly.

The screen flickered to life, and there it was—our baby, so tiny and perfect, moving ever so slightly.

Joe leaned forward, his face lit up with wonder.

"It's so small," he whispered, "I can't believe that's ours."

The OBGYN moved the wand to get a better angle, her eyes focused on the screen, as she smiled.

"You're doing great. Let's see if we can get a good shot of the heartbeat."

She carefully adjusted the position, and suddenly, the room was filled with a steady *whoosh-whoosh-whoosh*.

Our eyes immediately welled with tears as we heard the rhythmic thumping of the baby's heart. It was a sound we would never forget.

Joe's voice was quiet, almost reverent. "That's... that's amazing."

The OBGYN smiled, nodding.

"Healthy baby. Strong heartbeat," she paused, her eyes twinkling, "Do you want to know the gender?"

I glanced at Joe, who was already looking at me, waiting for her answer. A mix of excitement and anticipation filled the air between us.

"What do you think?" I asked softly.

Joe met my gaze and smiled. "Let's wait. It'll be more fun at the party, right? A little surprise to look forward to."

I grinned, relieved. "You're right. Let's wait."

The OBGYN gave us a knowing smile. "I'll make sure to get the right picture for you. You're all set."

She gently left the room, leaving me and Joe to exchange glances filled with joy and a little nervousness.

"Nevermind! I don't know if I can wait," I mumbled nervously, already feeling the tension of not knowing.

Joe laughed softly. "You got this babe! It'll be worth the wait. Besides, the party is tonight and it'll make the reveal even more special."

Joe's POV:

As soon as we arrived home, Ally couldn't help but smile at the sight of the backyard.
