Ally's POV

I stepped into the venue, my stomach in knots. We were celebrating Dani's new collection, and I knew Joe would obviously be here.

The last time we’d seen each other was at the family dinner, a week ago, when the so called scandal took place.

My eyes scanned the room instinctively, and there he was.

Our gazes locked, and suddenly I was back in his apartment, remembering everything that had happened the night the leaked photo got taken.

"Ally! I'm so glad you could make it," Dani's voice snapped me back to reality.

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world," I managed to say, trying to keep my voice steady.

But my eyes betrayed me, instantly drifting back to Joe.

He was suddenly approaching, looking effortlessly good. I bit my lip, trying to suppress a smile.

"Hey, Ally. Fancy seeing you here," Joe said, his attempt at casualness clearly forced.

"Joe! Hi! Yeah, fancy that," My voice came out higher than I intended.

Smooth, Ally. Real smooth.

We stood there, shifting awkwardly. I could feel the heat radiating from him, a reminder of how close we once were, or could be?

Stop it, Ally. That was a two-time thing. Right?

"So, uh, how’ve you been?" Joe trailed off.

"Oh, good. Fine. You?"

"Yeah, good. Great."

An awkward silence fell between us. I desperately wanted to say something… anything, but my mind was blank.

All I could think about was how his lips felt on mine, how his hands...

"Ally?" Joe's voice rang out.

"Sorry, what?" I blinked, realizing I'd completely zoned out.

Joe smirked, and I felt a flutter in my stomach. "I asked if you wanted a drink."

"Oh! Yes, please. That would be great."

As Joe turned to get our drinks, I couldn't help but watch him walk away.

Pull yourself together, Ally.

They were just meaningless hookups that always turned into an argument. It doesn't mean anything.

Right?

As the night wore on, I found myself continuously gravitating towards Joe.

We laughed a little too loudly at each other's jokes, stood a little too close. Every accidental brush of his hand sends shivers.

Without thinking, I reached out to fix his collar. My fingers grazed his neck and our eyes met, and for a moment, I thought he might kiss me, right there, in front of everyone.

"Ally..." he breathed, leaning in slightly.

"Joe, I-" I started, not sure what I was going to say.

"Hey, you two!" Kevin's voice broke through.

We jumped apart, guilty looks on our faces.

"Everything ok?" questioned Kevin, suspicion written all over his face.

"Fine!" We both said in unison, a little too quickly.

Kevin raised an eyebrow but didn't push it.

As he walked away, I caught Joe's eye again. The tension between us, a mix of desire and uncertainty.

I wanted to talk about what happened, to figure it all out.. but not here, not with everyone watching.

Instead, we continued our dance of awkward flirtation, both of us unsure of where we stood but unable to stay away from each other.

The night drew to a close and I found myself both relieved and disappointed. Relieved to escape the tension, but disappointed to leave Joe's presence.

"So, I'll see you around?" Joe said as I was leaving, his eyes searching for mine.

"Yeah, see you around," I replied, my voice soft.

Joe's POV

I watched Ally walk away from the party, my heart pounding. All night, I'd been fighting the urge to touch her, to kiss her, to relive what we'd shared after the shoot and after the club, that before I knew it, I was following her out.

"Ally, wait," I called out, jogging towards her.

She turned, her eyes wide with surprise. God, she was beautiful.

"Joe, what are you—"

I didn't let her finish. I couldn't.

All the tension, all the longing of the evening crashed over me in a wave.

My hands found her waist, and I gently pushed her against her car door, kissing her, pouring every ounce of pent-up desire into it.

For a heart-stopping moment, she didn't respond, and I feared I'd made a terrible mistake.

But then her lips moved against mine, and her fingers were in my hair, pulling me closer.

I lost myself in her – the softness of her lips, the warmth of her body, the faint scent of her perfume that I'd missed so much.

When we finally broke apart, I rested my forehead against hers, trying to catch my breath.

"I've been wanting to do that all night," I admitted, my voice husky.

"Me too," she whispered, and my heart soared.

We stood there, frozen in the moment. I didn't want to move, didn't want to break whatever spell had fallen over us, but I knew we couldn't stay like this forever.

"We should probably talk about this," Ally said softly.

I nodded, reluctantly pulling back but keeping my hands on her waist. I couldn't bear to lose contact completely.

"Yeah, we should."

I watched as Ally bit her lip, clearly thinking.

God, she had no idea what that simple gesture did to me.

Before she finally whispered..

"Do you want to come back to mine?"
