Megan

“You!” she growled. I was slightly taken aback by her sudden ferociousness but I wasn’t about to back off.  “Yes?” I asked subconsciously letting my sassy side take over. “Megan Coyle,” she spat, I rolled my eyes at her and looked at my finger nails pretending to be uninterested when really curiosity was burning like a fire within me.  “Yes, as far as I am aware that is still my name.” I stated plainly. “The Alpha’s only daughter,” she sneered circling me slowly. I huffed in annoyance, “Yes, yes. Again I already knew that could you maybe tell me something I don’t know?” I asked letting my annoyance seep into my words.

This time it was her turn to huff. “Megan Coyle Daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack,” I was about to cut her off but she hissed at me to be silenced before continuing with her stating of obvious facts. “You are seventeen, correct?” I rolled my eyes and nodded wondering if she would ever get to the point. “So you haven’t found your mate yet?” I nodded getting quickly annoyed. She cackled, yes she quite literally cackled like the wicked witch from Wizard of Oz. I am aware that this is the second time I have made a comparison to a character from the Wizard of Oz, but I watched that movie far too many times as a kid so it’s inevitable. I stared at her intently waiting for her to turn green, it didn’t happen. “Interesting,” she said suddenly sounding less wolfish and more human. “Well then there is no need for me to be here if you haven’t found your mate yet!” to say I was confused would be a major understatement.

“So why the heck did you come here in the first place?” Gaby said butting into the conversation. Emmerson smiled sweetly and spoke with a hint of smugness “That is for me to know and you to find out very shortly.” With that she spun on her heels and strolled purposefully towards the border of our pack grounds.

“I don’t trust her at all!” Caitlin said and for once we all agreed on something. “I say we follow her and see if she leads as to anything interesting,” Billee suggested. I frowned in deep thought. “We could but I don’t think she will, she has clearly already found what she was looking for so I say we go upstairs and do some research on her pack!” I took in my friend’s expressions and they all looked halfway between agreement and utter confusion. Finally a look of enlightenment graced Caitlin’s face and she nodded and gestured for us to get moving. “Yeah I agree,” Gaby said.

We made our way slowly back up to my room, but this time instead of diving on to my bed like we normally did we all crowed around my small desk and I booted up my old laptop. “Okay what pack is she from?” I asked as I typed in the password that I have had since year seven…it totally wasn’t ‘password’.  I pushed back a strand of brown hair from my face and turned to face my friends staring at them waiting for an answer.

“Um, I think it was the Morning Star Pack.” Billee said. I nodded and opened up the Pack’s archives that I definitely didn’t hack. Okay, okay yeah I did but that is beside the point. I quickly typed in the name of the pack and tapped impatiently while it searched. “THERE!” Gaby yelled and pointed excitedly to my screen. I hurriedly clicked on the blue hyperlink. “Come on, come on.” I muttered. Finally my screen flickered to a page titled THE MORNING STAR PACK 1800 – 2013, they are actually quite a new pack in werewolf terms. “Okay, the current Alpha of the pack is Jaden Thornwall and his mate is Freya Thornwall. They have one child, a daughter called Aprile. Blah blah something about customs. THERE! Daniel Coyle is the BETA?” my eyes bulged and nearly fell out of my head. Daniel never said anything about being a Beta.  “He never mentioned that he was the new Beta of the pack,” I said letting my hurt show.

“He’s your big brother shouldn’t he tell you these sorta things?” Caitlin asked, I nodded sadly he was supposed to but he hadn’t. I guess he was too caught up with his lovely mate to remember to tell me. “Oh well, does it say anything else important?” I scrolled further down the page suddenly something caught my eye, I quickly scrolled back up, it was a screenshot of a newspaper article (yes werewolves read the newspaper too but we also have one about pack news) from last year.

PACK DISPUTE RESOLVED?

The dispute between the Morning Start Pack and Crescent  Moon Pack has finally been resolved after fifty years of fighting. The two Alphas of the packs have come together and signed an agreement to stop the fighting. However the hatred between the packs has not faded. So when it was discovered that the Alpha’s son of the Crescent Moon Pack was mates with the Beta’s Daughter of the Morning Star Pack it’s not surprising that there was a revolt.

“Megan? What are you doing?” my Father said from behind me. I quickly minimised the tab and spun around to face him. “Ummm homework?” I tired. He nodded and pushed past me and opened up the tab again. “Why were you on the packs archive?” I could feel sweat start to bead on my forehead and my cheeks flushed red, I have never been good at lying to my Dad – to my Mother or anyone else I was fine but not to my Dad.

“Well –“
