Emmerson
“HOW COME YOU NEVER TOLD ME THAT?” Nadia yelled as I dragged her towards the edge of The Crescent Moon’s border. “BECAUSE I KNEW YOU WOULD TELL!” I shouted back. I still hand a tight grip on her collar and I don’t think it was improving her mood. This pack’s security is terrible. We have been shouting and arguing for ages and no one and come to even check if there was a noise. If it wasn’t for the fact that Megan woke up we would have had the necklace easy. I cursed. That girl has been getting in the way of my plans for ages. I should have killed her when I had the chance four years ago.
I stood over the sleeping form of the girl. This was to be my greatest kill? What has this girl got to do with anything? She doesn’t even look like she could put up a fight. She looked pathetic, a rich, pathetic child who is given everything in life. It was hard to judge a person’s age while they were sleeping but this girl looked to be about thirteen - fourteen. Emmerson sighed. Slowly pulling out her garrotte, this didn’t need to be messy, she gently lifted the girl’s head up and wrapped the thin leather strap around her neck. I slipped the leather through the buckle and carefully began to tighten it. This would be no grand death.
The girl’s face was slowly going to a purplish red. Then I hesitated. She had woken now and her brown eyes were staring at me, wide with fear. Her brown hair was spread over the pillow like a halo. She looked terrified and innocent. I sighed and slowly unbuckled the garrotte. I slipped it off her neck and strode back to the window. I took in her startled expression before climbing out her open window and scaling the drainpipe to the dew covered ground.
“Emmerson? Earth to Emmy.” Nadia said waving her hand in my face, bringing me back to reality. “Where’d ya go?” she asked. I frowned and shook my head, ridding it of unwanted thoughts. Scowling I snapped a quick ‘never mind’ and stormed off leaving her to catch up with me. This is how our entire return trip was spent, me cursing every time a tripped over a tree root and generally ignoring Nadia. Finally the large brick house came into view, towering over the tops of the trees. By this point I was beyond tired and was incredibly irritable, I had broken sticks tangled in my hair held in place by several spider’s homes.
“EMMERSON STOP!” Nadia yelled. Grumbling I came to a halt. I spun on my feet and starred sharp pointy daggers at her. “Geez, time of the month.” Nadia mumbled. I narrowed my eyes at her and she raised her hands in a defence position. “Okay, okay…I surrender.” She said. Huffing I turned around, deeming her input unimportant. Marching I stomped my way to the house.
I stumbled back on to the grass that surrounds the house. Not bothering to wait for Nadia I dragged my weary body up the steps to the door. I turned the bronze door handle only to come to the depressing discovery that it was locked. Slumping my back against the carved door, sliding slowly to the door. “Well –“ my cursing was interrupted by the door opening. I fell straight inside, landing hard on my back. Groaning in pain I looked up to be met with the annoyed grey eyes of Kyle, my Alpha. “Hi,” I said waving awkwardly. He rolled his eyes and extended a hand to help me up. I gripping his hand tightly I dragged myself off the floor.
“Did you get it?” he asked once I wobbly stood on my feet. I sadly shook my head. He growled and raised a fist. Too tired to deflect it I let his fist fly forward into my cheek. Cursing I rubbed the area already feeling the bruise form. Even with my wolf healing abilities that will take a while to fade.
That of course was when Nadia made her appearance. She flung the door open and shouted; “WHERES REGAN?” great timing Nadia.
“You mean you lost her too?” by now Kyle was absolutely furious. I nodded my head slowly not meeting his hard gaze. “DID YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT? YOU HAD ONE JOB! ONE AND YOU COULDN’T EVEN MANAGE THAT?” there was no point in stopping him now so I just stood there and let him rant.
Finally he cooled down. “Just go to bed, I’ll speak to you in the morning.” He sighed and turned and made his way up the stairs. And to bed we went.
