I woke up groggily. I felt cold, even though I was used to sleeping alone. It was like she'd already seeped into me.
My eyes were only half open so the image was blurry. I fought myself and opened them fully.
There she was. She wore one of my shirts and my American apparel underwear. She had coffee for me in my favourite mug.
It had been a long time coming. The tension could always be cut with a knife. We'd been close friends that always teetered on more. Finally, I'd gotten the courage to ask her out. When she'd said yes I'd been overwhelmed with happiness.
The date had gone so well that she'd come back to mine. It wasn't so odd... except that it was. This wasn't our normal sleepover night. This time I got to touch her, hold her, be inside her.
It had taken everything in me not to mumble that I loved her into her hair. Now, in the morning light, I questioned my beliefs last night. Was I in love? Or was it the just release of tension. Was it just finally getting to have sex with someone I'd been attracted to for years?
But now I took her in. She had a sleepy smile as she handed me the coffee. She looked so damn perfect with her tousled hair, bare legs, and tired eyes. Everything about her felt like home. She was mine and I was hers, completely.
Last night, when an awkward silence or giggle had arisen I'd wondered if this would work. We had been friends for so long. Perhaps this would be too weird or too heavy. But I knew now, that I was so down.
I took the coffee and placed it on my bedside. I pulled her into my lap and kissed her wordlessly. She fit and melted into me so perfectly that I knew I'd never let her go. No matter what trials this brought I'd try my hardest. She was for me.
"My work of art," I sighed into her mouth.
"Timmy," she giggled, and I was even more whipped than I'd been moments before.
