Callie was jolted awake quickly as her phone beeped loudly.
With weak limbs and drowsy eyes she flips her phone over.
The screen blinding her instantly.
Wiping her eyes they began to focus and the time came into view. 4:28am. Who would possibly be texting her a 4:28 in the morning.
Her tired eyes shifted to a message and she read who it was from.
"Kiara"
Good old Kiara from Girls United. Callie was pleased that she had been adopted and was finally getting a home with a good family. She presumed they were good. She had hoped they were good. Kiara deserved a good home, with a good family and good love.
Callie'a heart dropped as she read a glimpse of the message that was sent.
Only one word showed up when Callie had turned her phone on. "Help"
Callie quickly slid the screen across and went into her phone as she sat up with a tense figure.
The message opened up but this time it had more written to it.
"Help...guy wth gun" the fact that words were spelt incorrectly and that some were missing made her panic more. That meant kiara was typing fast and frantically.
A million thoughts rushed through Callie's mind. Gun, robber, drug-dealer, murderer, killer.
But being Callie, a rebellious teen with a criminal record and a heart the size of the sun she was desperate to help her friend.
Callie's heart thudded swiftly as she ripped the blankets back and climbed out of bed.
It was still partly dark outside and the only light that was left on was the downstairs light and a lamp that was lit in Jude's room.
Callie rushed across the carpet reaching Stef and Lena's room.
She pushed against the door softly as it creaked open and a light ray of light formed a triangle beneath Callie's toes.
She hurried into the room and rushed around to Stef.
Stef was a cop, she had a gun, protection and back up. She was closest thing to safety Callie was going to get if she was going to save Kiara, if she even needed saving.
Kneeling down against the floor she could see Stef face faintly in the darkness.
"Stef." She whispered softly as she began to shake the women softly.
Stef's eyes suddenly opened wide and then thinned out.
"I need your help."
Stef blinked as Callie around up.
She watched as Stef risen from her bed and he silhouette figure making its way towards her.
They both stood in the hall way.
Stef flicked the light on, which just blurred her vision more.
She wiped her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ears as she noticed Callie's scared and worried pale face.
"Are you ok?" She asked worriedly as she placed her hands on her hips and looked down at her.
"I need your help. Kiara's in trouble. She says there's a guy with a gun and I'm freaking out." Callie said looking around nervously.
Stef's eyes widened and within a matter of minutes she had rushed into her room and came out again with her gun belt, gun, vest and a leather jacket.
Callie had gotten changed to.
She slid her shoes on in the dark as quietly as she could so she wouldn't wake Mariana or anyone else.
They both made their way into Stef's car. Callie with her pyjamas on with her grey converse shoes and a red jacket.
Her heart pounded in her chest. She had never been on such an incredible yet dangerous adventure before. But the there was Stef. Stern and emotionless. Her eyes set hard on the road as the sky began to turn lighter. Yet it wasn't light enough to see clearly in.
Stef ripped her wallow talkie up from her radio and called in for back up for the address Callie had given her earlier. Her voice as she spoke made Callie more nervous than she already was.
The ride there seemed to last forever. What was half and hour felt like four hours and the roads were empty with life that it gave it an eerie feel. The street lights lit the road and when the car drive under them the windscreen would light up.
Callie tapped her feet nervously as silence crept in and the only sound was the sound of the cars engine.
When they got to the house the other cops hadn't arrived yet.
"Where are they?" Callie asked worriedly and nervously with the knowledge that Stef should not of been going in alone.
"They'll be here soon." Stef replied as she strapped her bullet proof vest on.
"Wait here." Stef instructed as Callie undid her belt and sat up straight.
She nodded quickly as Stef loaded her gun.
The sound of sirens appeared and Stef made her way to the front of the car as she waited for the others to get there.
Callie watched it all on the edge of her seat. Her heart pounded as she saw the open door to kiara's house.
The cop car pulled in and a thin man climbed out of the car in full uniform.
Callie tried to listen to what they were saying but all she could hear was mumbles that didn't sound like words at all.
The two entered through the front door with their guns at the ready.
Callie watched as they disappeared into the home and yet again a silence crept in. This one was worst though, it was horrid and worrying. She didn't know what was happening in there. If they found anything or anyone. They could have been looking at kiara or anyone else's dead body right now and she wouldn't have known a thing.
The silence became to much. Callie's emotions went from sheer panic to anxiety. As her hands became sweaty and her head pounded so much she wasn't sure if she had a head ache of she was about to faint.
They had been in the house for about three minutes by then. And Callie got the sickest feeling in her stomach like something was wrong.
It was dead silent until she heard the sound of a door opening. It wasn't the front one though. She looked around to see two figures race out of the house though the side door. It wasn't Stef and the other man it was someone else. She knew it was Kiara instantly. And the other figure belonged to someone unfamiliar to Callie. They were much smaller and shorter.
Callie opened the car door with relief as she was ok.
She ran around the back of the car and hurried over to the two who were were standing and holding each other frightfully.
"Kiara?" Callie whispered as she came closer to the two.
Kiara noticed Callie's and made her way towards her. When The distance between the two girls decreased Callie noticed how unsteady kiara's breathing was. It was short and fast. She was in complete panic.
"You ok?" It was a stupid questioned but Callie asked it anyway.
Instead of replying Kiara just wrapped her arms around Callie and held her.
It was peaceful and relieving until the high pitched scream if the other child sounded and their two hearts dropped. They withdrew there hug to see the man standing in the frame of the door like an evil murderous silhouette. It wasn't the other cop. No, this man was bigger, fatter and he held a gun. And that gun that he held in his hands was pointing at the three of them.
"Put the gun down and put your hands up!." A voice sounded. Callie presumed it was the other cop. But she was in no position to think as she had a gun pointing at her.
A shot sounded and then another and another.
The man fell to his knees as the gun fell from his hand and he came crumbling down to the ground.
Stef appeared as she jumped down the step and landed hard on the ground. Gun still clenched in her grip.
As she stepped in closer the girls came into view.
A soft moaning sound sounded from the ground as Stef came closer and closer.
"Callie!" She yelled as she rushed over to Callie who lay flat on the ground with a blood stain on her chest inking her pyjamas.
"Callie, callie. No, no." Stef mumbled as she fell to the ground next to her bleeding daughter.
"Callie?" Kiara said as she rushed to the other side of her.
The words she heard became muffled and strange.
The only thing she saw were the stars and Stef and kiara's worried face above them but even then they were blurred and twisted.
Her eyes began to fall shut as the sound of more sirens appeared. The pain in her chest was now more of an ache and for a split second it didn't hurt. There was no pain, no hurt, no nothing.
She could feel the warm blood drip down her side and then her eyes shut.
Slowly, painless and weak at first but then it sorta just happened. There was no noise, no sounds, no anything really. Expect light. White light that stung her eyes and drew her in.
But that light faded away and then all there was was darkness.
