Grandpa - Justin Moore
You stood on that bank when I got baptized
Gave me a 30 30 when I turned 9
At 16
Ya caught me drinkin'
Out in the barn
I could hear you cheerin' when we won state
And ya held my hand at Grandma's grave
And I'll always be thankful
Ya never sold the farmGrandpa you stood so tall
Chewed that red man, wore overalls You were the same man on Sunday morning as Saturday night
5 foot 6 from the top of your hat
But when you talked about the war, thought you were superman
American born simple man with a southern drawl
You walked the walk
You talked the talk
GrandpaYou still swear Roosevelt was the best
That a homegrown tomater tastes better than the rest
And fifty years goes too fast
With a woman ya love
Well this life I've chosen is gettin' busy now
But I know where to go when I need to slow down
And when I walk up on your front porch
It's just like I'm still youngGrandpa you stood so tall
Chewed that red man, wore overalls You were the same man on Sunday morning as Saturday night
5 foot 6 to the top of your hat
But when ya talked about the war, thought you were superman
American born simple man with a southern drawl
Ya walked the walk
Ya talked the talk
GrandpaYeah American born a dirt road man with that slow southern drawl
Now keep walkin' the walk and talkin' the talk
GrandpaThis song really hits home for me. My grandpa passed away a little over a year ago and it was the hardest thing I've ever been through. This song reminds me of him and makes it easier to deal with the loss.
