I hate school so much.
Why do I have to do this today?
Shades isn't here even though he said he would be.I overhead it from some of his men.
The kitchen where I am is empty. I'm alone again. I'm beginning to regret not taking the drawing pad and charcoal from yesterday.
I hear the door open and close and feel a chill run through me. I only calm down when I see it's Sam.
For a while I had forgotten his existence.
Ever since I was kidnapped he has become much quieter than he was before. Since I didn't leave my room all he did was sit outside the door. I didn't try to have a proper conversation with him the other days but now I notice that I might need to.
He looks like he hasn't slept in days."Good morning." I say as I turn to look at him. "Are you ready to go?" he responds almost immediately and I understand that something is wrong.
I shake my head yes once and try to find the right words to ask.
"Are you okay?" I ask as I let him lead me to the front door holding my backpack.
He seems very cold to me, just like everyone else in here. Everyone who works for Shades is nothing but cold, unfeeling jerks. "Everything is fine, don't worry," he tells me with a very small smile that I might have imagined.
The 15-minute drive to school was quiet. I tried to talk to Sam but he ignored me. Finally I stopped trying, feeling this emptiness grab my shoulders and push me inward. I decide to ignore this constant feeling once again and start my first day at my new school in a good mood.
Right now I'm in the principal's office so he can give me a schedule. The first period hasn't started yet so I'll be on time. I'm sitting in a brown leather low chair with wooden legs and armrests next to the door of the principal's office. A teacher told me to wait here until Mr. Mike calls me.
I am pulled from my thoughts by the sound of the door opening, revealing a man in a brown suit, old in age and with a few white hairs on his head.
As soon as his eyes fall on me, he smiles and with an impressed expression says "You must be mr. Rossi's sister? My name is Mr. Mike, it was nice to meet you!"
Without wanting to seem rude by not accepting his handshake, with a small smile I get up from the chair and after making sure that the distance between us is enough I say to him "Yes I am. My name is Irinee, it was nice to meet you."
His hand, which he had offered me for a handshake, is now on the door as he opens it wider as a sign that he is inviting me into his office.
"Please come in Irinee, i will give you the schedule you will have for the rest of the year. I know you missed the first few days but luckily you haven't fallen behind as it wasn't a long time. In this paper you will also find other activities that our school provides to the students. I hope you have a good first day!" He says as he hands me the schedule and a paper that looks like a small map of the school.
I say thank you and based on the map I head towards the classroom where English should be before the bell rings for the first period.
When I arrive I take a deep breath before opening the door and as I open it I feel my body shaking a little. I discover with surprise that only three children are in the room. When they hear the door opening and closing they turn to look at me with curiosity. They are two boys and a girl.
"Hi I'm Irinee-"
"Are you new?" asks one of the boys. "Yes."
"Welcome to hell" he says as he reads something from a large book in front of him.
"Don't pay attentionto him he'san ass all the time" says the girl sitting at the desk next to where I am next to the door.
"Sit wherever you want." says the other boy smiling at me a little.
"My name is Max, this idiot is Cole, and this is my sister Lena." he tells me as he points to the kids around him.
"Ha, that's really funny, guys. Do you know how ridiculous you are?" Cole says as the two siblings start giggling.
"Do you want to sit next to me?" Lena says and I couldn't be more grateful at this moment. I say yes as I smile and at the same time bell rings. Five minutes later the classroom is full and class begins.
---------
The day has gone from bad to worse. Except for maybe making three new friends, the rest of the day was a mess. I got lost in the third period and was late for class. I had math and the teacher sent me to the office even though I told her I was new.
I miss Anna. I haven't talked to her since i left and moved with Shades.
She has texted me and called me multiple times.
During lunch break, I had no one to sit with. Even though the kids from English class seemed nice, they didn't invite me to sit with them and I didn't see them for the rest of the day.
I thought I would see my cousins but I didn't find any of them.
I ate my food in the toilets because wherever I went, people looked at me and commented on me. I was also alone the whole time and maybe that's why I felt the need to eat the food I prepared at home in the toilet.
When it was time to go home, Sam was waiting for me in the car that brought me in the morning and without a word, he brought me home.
When i return home i find out that i am alone again.
