Hanbin stormed into Hao's room like a sudden gust of wind, the door crashing against the wall with a resounding thud. "How was it?" He asked. The abrupt intrusion sent a jolt through Hao, making him twitch in shock. His eyes, sharp as daggers, shot toward Hanbin, reflecting both surprise and irritation.
"What the hell?" Hao's voice was a mix of annoyance and confusion, his brows knitting together as he tried to process the unexpected interruption. "How was what?"
Hanbin rolled his eyes, a gesture that spoke volumes of his impatience. He leaned casually against the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, exuding an air of restless curiosity. "With Yujin," he clarified, his tone laced with urgency. "Are you guys alright now?" The question hung in the air, heavy with the weight of unspoken concerns.
Hao's frustration bubbled to the surface, his lips pressing into a thin line. "How are you even so sure we're not good together? I never told you that," he retorted, his voice edged with defensiveness. The room seemed to shrink around them, the walls closing in as the tension mounted.
Hanbin's gaze softened slightly, but his determination remained steadfast.
"I'm not blind," he replied, his voice quieter now, tinged with concern. Realizing the intensity of his words, he quickly added, "Sorry."
"Ya!" Hao exclaimed, his irritation flaring.
He grabbed a nearby pillow and hurled it at Hanbin with a force that belied its softness.
Hanbin caught it effortlessly, a smirk playing on his lips as he shook his head. "Really now," he mused, the corners of his mouth twitching upward.
A heavy sigh escaped Hao as he ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tangling in the strands. "We're on pause," he admitted, the words tasting bitter on his tongue.
His eyes followed Hanbin as he moved to sit on the edge of the bed, maintaining a respectful distance between them.
"Pause?" Hanbin echoed, one eyebrow arching in surprise.
"Did that idiot do something to you?" His voice hardened, a protective edge creeping in. But Hao shook his head, a mirthless chuckle escaping his lips. "Don't act so protective now," he shot back, his eyes narrowing. "It's complicated. I don't want to see him right now." The confessed.
Hanbin hummed softly, a thoughtful sound that lingered in the air as he nodded, letting Hao's words settle in his mind. His eyes dropped to the floor, unfocused, as if searching for something in the silence. His lips pressed into a tight, contemplative line, the kind that suggested there was more going on beneath the surface than he was ready to say out loud. The room felt heavy, thick with everything left unsaid.
Suddenly, Hanbin's eyes lit up with an idea, the spark of inspiration igniting his features. "I have a really good idea," he announced, his voice breaking the heavy silence.
The abruptness of his statement drew Hao's attention, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"I don't like this coming from your mouth, honestly," Hao admitted, his tone wary. It made Hanbin roll his eyes a playful scoff escaping him.
Their friendship was a dance of contrasts, a delicate balance of push and pull. It was weird between them, yet somehow peacful now.
"My dad.." Hanbin began, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "He invited me to come to Canada for a while." He paused, gauging Hao's reaction before continuing.
"I thought it would be nice to celebrate New Year's there since I spent Christmas here with Gyuvin and you."
Hao nodded slowly, processing the information.
"And?" he prompted, sensing there was more.
Hanbin hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "And I thought it might be good if you came with me," he finally said, the words tumbling out in a rush.
The suggestion hung in the air, unexpected and bold.
