The halls of the castle echoed with the frantic steps of servants as the physician rushed to the queen's chambers. Philip held Samira in his arms, his heart hammering against his chest as her body trembled with pain. Her blood stained his hands, the thick crimson soaking into the fabric of his tunic, a damning reminder of his own failures.
"Stay with me, my love," he whispered, his voice barely audible over her pained sobs. "Please, just hold on."
The physician and his assistants arrived in a flurry, forcing Philip to release Samira's limp form into their care. As they carried her toward the bed, she reached for him weakly, her fingers barely brushing his wrist before slipping away.
"Out! Everyone out!" the physician barked, his voice urgent as he and his aides began their desperate work to save the queen.
Philip hesitated, unwilling to leave her side, but a firm hand on his shoulder pulled him back. It was Lord Edric, his most senior adviser, his face grim with understanding.
"My lord, we must let them work."
Philip staggered back, his hands still trembling. He felt like a stranger in his own body. The weight of his choices bore down on him with an unbearable force. If Samira died tonight, if he lost her because of his own selfishness—he would never forgive himself.
He turned and stormed out of the chamber, the heavy doors slamming shut behind him.

In the dim candlelight of her own chambers, Alice sipped her wine, a satisfied smirk playing on her lips.
"So the little queen has lost her precious child," she murmured, swirling the deep red liquid in her goblet. The news had reached her quickly, whispered to her by the same servants who feared her wrath and longed for her favor.
She placed a hand over her swollen belly, feeling the slight movements of the life growing inside her. The heir, the future king.
"The fates have spoken," she said smugly. "Philip may pretend to love his little queen, but the gods clearly favor me."
A quiet laugh escaped her lips. With Samira's child gone, she held the only true claim to Philip's legacy.

Philip stood in the war chamber, staring blankly at the council gathered before him. His mind was elsewhere, trapped in the agonizing moments that had unfolded in Samira's room.
"The loss of an heir is a severe matter," Lord Edric said gravely. "Your Majesty, the court will expect action."
"We must discuss securing the bloodline," another adviser added. "The queen has proven... fragile."
Philip's head snapped up. "Watch your tongue," he growled, his voice low and dangerous.
The room fell into silence. Philip's knuckles turned white as he gripped the edge of the table.
"We will not speak of this as if she is replaceable." His tone was sharp, filled with an anger he hadn't allowed himself to express before. "She is my wife. The queen. And I will not entertain any talk of securing another heir while she suffers."
The men exchanged wary glances, unused to such emotion from their king.
Philip took a slow breath, reigning in his temper. "As for Lady Alice, she will no longer reside in the palace."
Murmurs of shock rippled through the chamber.
"My lord," Lord Edric began cautiously, "Lady Alice carries your heir. To send her away—"
"She will not be cast out," Philip interjected. "She will be provided for, but she will not remain here to torment my wife." His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.
