"Three more weeks, Gracie, three more weeks." I murmured to myself walking to the closest McDonald's, in three more weeks I will go back home to New Jersey and spend the holidays with my family which was only my mom, dad and dog since my sister had decided to spend hers with her new boyfriend.
I had tried to get Noah to come along with me since she wasn't spending Christmas with her Dad who was busy and said he couldn't get a day off, not even Christmas.Noah said she prefered to stay and actually go out and see the city.
Since we got to Los Angeles we had only been in the campus or any place near but we hadn't even been to the beach, I had no rush either.
I walked in McDonald's over to the counter and ordered a cheese burger. I payed for my food and took my tray to a table near the window.
I was taking a bite of my burger when my phone started ringing, I groaned and took it out of my purse. It was as always my Mom calling during the most important events of my normal life.
I swallowed and answered, "Oh God, Gracie why haven't you call me? I have been worried sick!"
I tried not to laugh, I had called her last night and she had said the same.
"Sorry, I was in class." I answered seriously, laughing at my Mom wasn't a good idea ever.
"Noah called me, she told you have a boyfriend." I could almost see my Mom's wide smile to know her daughter wasn't going to live a life of celibacy.
"I don't have a boyfriend, Mom. It's just a friend." I said popping some fries into my mouth, my Mom giggled like a teenager and sighed dreamly.
"Everyone says that, honey. How is he like? Is he tall? Handsome? Does he have a big-"
I choked slightly on my fries and drank some ice tea to swallow them, my Mom was like a teenager that had the need to make everyone date everyone, she was a like a match maker, she often gave out my number to boys – and girls just in case.
"He is a friend and yeah he is pretty tall and he is cute." I told her ignoring her last question.
"Hmm, what's his name? Marty?" I snorted.
"His name is Matty, Mom." I smiled and she asked something about what he studies but I was too busy noticing Matty and a couple of other guys had just walked in –perfect timing, I looked around to see if there was any way to hide from his sight, there was a booth at the far end.
"Gracie?... Jackson, I think my phone is broken!" My Mom yelled at my Dad who was probably too busy reading or just far away.
"I'm here, Mom." I said and she sighed and yelled something to my Dad again.
"What took you too long to answer? This is supossed to be fast!" She exlaimed and I moved my phone away from my ear so I wouldn't end up deaf, I took my trait and as normally as I could walked to the booth setting down my things and sat down so Matty couldn't spot me.
I wasn't ready to talk to him, I was never ready to talk to him. I was actually never ready to talk to anyone if I hadn't planned it before, I was probably going to stay silent because I wouldn't know what to say next like he did and end up looking stupid which I was not risking, I could risk me looking like shit in sweatpants but not looking stupid.
"So what does this young boy studies?"
"Um, music." I said trying to keep my voice low.
"Oh god, not a rock star, I remember when your Dad wanted to make a band, he started wearing this weird so-called cool jeans and combing his hair in odd ways." She laughed, I grinned, the idea of my Dad the lawyer as a rock star didn't sound quiet right to me.
