Tes POV
"She really in on all this huh?" Yanna asked.
"Nah, can't be Lacey. She wouldn't do or even be apart of something like this." I said.
Lacey been cool with all of for as long as the seventh grade. When Daya came, we all opened up to her with extended arms including Lacey. There was no way I could suspect her of being behind this. The night Lacey and I lost our virginity to each other, we both just did it. We didn't know what we were doing. Just two kids curious about sex and ready to see what the hype was about. After that, we promised it wouldn't interfere with our friendship. We moved on the next day and never talked about it again.
"I never trusted her," Nessa said. "She always made me stand offish towards her. Conniving ass."
"My girl not like this though," Doria said. "Somebody trynna set her up Im telling yall. Lacey loves Daya so she wouldn't do this and I know that she wouldn't."
"You don't know what Lacey would do Doria. You know she been being short with us for the past few weeks. She even started carrying a gun and shit. We don't know what she capable of doing."
"Lacey clutching now?" Hopper asked.
"Yea. It ain't registered or nothing but she said she wanted to protect herself cause too much shit was going on around here for her not to have some kind of protection. She said bought it from some niggas she don't even know in some alley but I think she been had that." Yanna answered.
"Yall know if anybody Lacey know have a old Honda hatchback? Like a rusty red kind of?" I asked thinking about the car that was involved in the drive by's of Weedie and my little brother.
"Her momma used to drive a burgundy hatchback. Embarrassing us dropping us off at the movies every Saturday night. They keep it in the back of the garage," Doria said.
I got up and walked toward the door while grabbing my keys out of my pocket.
"Say where you going," Q asked following me outside.
"I'm going talk to Snake. Something I gotta talk to him about. You might want to come with me before I kill that nigga."
I slid in my car and Quanstan got in the passenger seat. I backed out of the driveway and sped over to Daya grandmother house.
"What you gotta talk to Snake for?" Q asked me. "We got this far without him so what you need him for?"
I continued to speed and even got faster not answering Q. Soon he would know the reason why I needed to talk to him. I finally pulled up and spotted him in the yard talking to some man I didn't recognize.
When I got out the car and ran to him, Q stopped me.
"Tes what's going on?" he asked me.
"Lacey huh?" I asked him. "You knew she was the one that killed my brother?" Q let me go and looked at Snake stunned.
"Look," Snake said. "I told you to watch your friends and do what you wanted with the information I gave you. It isn't my fault and I'm sorry. Sincerely."
"You knew that she killed Weedie too?" I asked him and from the face he made I knew it was the truth.
"I didn't think that certain situation was any of your concern," he responded.
"It was my concern when my nigga was in jail for something he didn't do!"
"Look, I knew she killed your brother and your friend. I found out when one of my men came and told me that Daya spent the night at her home once. I wanted to know more about her and her family so I digged and when I kept digging I found out that information. I'm sorry but it wasn't my place to tell you."
