I didn't go to school the next day.
The house was a mess. Mom was crying inside her locked room. Dad was sleeping in the couch. Winnieh was still hungry even though I had already feed him.
I think I wasn't a mess.
I was hurt when Mom's favorite, but now broken, vase (yes, the one with the colorful roses) cut my finger while I was picking the shards up.
I went to the store to buy band aids. Maybe I could buy those cute band aids that had cartoons on them.
I also bought more food for Winnieh, the hungry cat.
"Have a nice day."
That's what the lady behind the cashier told me. I smiled at her, she didn't any idea how those four words meant so much for me.
So I thanked her and left.
When I got home, Dad and the noisy car were gone. Mom and her puffy eyes were in the kitchen. And Winneh wanted more food.
I think Mom wanted food too.
She had a plate in front of her. But she had no intentions of filling it with something.
I gave her Froot Loops.
She thanked me.
Even if my day wasn't the best. It surely was a nice day. Because that day, there was no screaming.
Dad didn't come home.
I was worried yet glad.
For once, the house wasn't a mess.
It was peaceful.
And I always enjoyed peaceful places.
