One week later...

The conference room at Jeon Tech was a pristine, glass-walled fortress overlooking the bustling city below. Inside, the atmosphere was anything but calm.

Jeon Jungkook sat at the head of the table, his jaw tight and his expression colder than the sleek marble beneath his fingers. Across from him, Lee Jaehwan lounged with an air of practiced indifference, tapping a pen against the folder of documents in front of him.

"Well, let's get this over with," Jungkook said, breaking the brittle silence. His tone was sharp, each word delivered like a warning shot. "You might be used to wasting time, Jaehwan, but I have better things to do."

Jaehwan's lips curved into a smirk, though his eyes glinted with challenge. "Charming as always, Jungkook. No wonder Jin found it hard to stay entertained."

The temperature in the room seemed to drop another degree as Jungkook's glare locked onto Jaehwan, his hand tightening around his pen. "Careful, Jaehwan. Dragging up the past won't change the fact that you're irrelevant to this deal—and to me."

"Past?" Jaehwan leaned forward, his smirk growing more pronounced. "You mean the part where I had to step in because Jin was desperate for something you clearly couldn't provide? Or are we talking about your habit of holding grudges like they're a badge of honor?"

Jungkook's chair scraped against the floor as he leaned forward, his voice low and venomous. "You weren't 'stepping in.' You were a convenient distraction for someone too cowardly to face their own flaws. And let's not forget—this merger is about business, not whatever delusions you're still clinging to."

Jaehwan chuckled, the sound grating in Jungkook's ears. "Business, right. Because nothing screams professionalism like unresolved baggage. But by all means, continue pretending this deal isn't personal."

The door opened slightly, and a nervous assistant peeked in. Both men snapped their attention toward the interruption, the intensity of their gazes enough to send the assistant retreating with a mumbled apology. The door clicked shut, leaving the tension to build unchecked.

Jungkook straightened his suit, taking a breath to steady himself. "Let's stick to the topic at hand. We're here to discuss the merger terms, not your glorified role in someone else's poor choices."

"And yet, here you are," Jaehwan replied smoothly, his smirk never faltering. "Still obsessed with making sure I know exactly how you feel. Admit it, Jungkook—deep down, you'd rather have me as an enemy than a partner."

"Don't flatter yourself." Jungkook's voice was ice. "I don't care enough about you to make that distinction."

The words hung heavily in the air, their weight almost tangible. But it was Jaehwan's next remark that pushed Jungkook over the edge.

"Let's be honest, Jungkook," Jaehwan said, his voice dripping with mockery. "Jin wasn't running to me because I chased him. He came to me because he wanted to."

The room erupted into chaos. Jungkook lunged across the table, his chair scraping loudly against the floor as his hands reached for Jaehwan's collar. Papers scattered, and the sound of glass rattling filled the room as Jungkook's fury exploded.

"You don't get to talk about Jin like that!" Jungkook growled, his voice raw with anger. "You don't get to rewrite history to suit your pathetic narrative!"

Jaehwan, though startled, didn't back down. His smirk faltered but quickly returned as he said, "Truth hurts, doesn't it? Maybe you should've been enough for him."

Before Jungkook could land a blow, the door burst open, and Yoongi and Namjoon rushed in. Yoongi grabbed Jungkook's arm, pulling him back with surprising strength, while Namjoon stepped between the two men, his presence commanding enough to halt the chaos.
