Hey guys first I just wanted to say THANK YOU! You don't realize how much all the votes and comments meant to me. I almost have 13,000 reads. I was suffering a little bit with writers block so if this chapter sucks please stick with me.
I stepped into the cute grocery store and toke in my surroundings. They don't have these kinds of markets in New York.
In the big city every store you see is usually a chain brand. I picked up a ripe tomato from a wooden basket and squeezed the fresh vegetable, perfect. I placed it in my cart. I plan to make a homemade meal tonight, I may not be the best chef but I really like cooking.
I wasn't able to cook for Steven a lot back in the city because he is always working late hours and orders pizza or Chinese food at the office instead.
I would usually eat meals alone, besides for the fancy dinners he'd take me out to on our anniversary or for a date.
I grabbed several more tomatoes. I'm in the mood for homemade marinara sauce and pasta tonight. I walked over to the neatly stacked boxes of pasta and grabbed several boxes of penne.
I walked over to the blond cashier.
She might not have pig tails but I still recognize her. You don't usually forget the girl who made your childhood a living hell.
It might be wrong but seeing her here, as cashier brings me the slightest feeling of joy. I place my items on the counter and ruffled through my 'expensive' purse directly in front of her, making sure she sees how well off I am. It couldn't hurt to rub it in, a little. I handed her the credit card making sure it's in my left hand to show off my sparkling, rather large, diamond ring.
"Chloe? Chloe the cow? Is that you?!" She looked up from scanning the items, and grabbed my credit card from my ringed finger.
Chloe the cow. Even just hearing the name brings haunting childhood memories back.
"That's me," I laughed forcing a smile on to my face, "But I go by Chloe now, just Chloe."
"What brings you back here?" She asked as she continued to scan the rest of my items.
"I'm moving back here with my fiancé," I replied trying to sound bored, like it's no big deal, even though we both know it is. She looked down at my giant diamond ring.
"Thats great," She replied with a snotty smile, "What do you do now? Just marry the rich," She snorted.
She did not just say that. She's the one working at a super market. At least I can find a man. Anger boiled inside me.
I am not that little girl who can be pushed down on the playground; one thing I learned back in New York was how to stand up for myself.
"Nope," I smiled popping the 'p', "I'm actually a model."
"And I'm an Astronaut," She laughed as she handed back my credit card. I snatched it from her hands and dropped it into my purse. I walked over to the magazine section and grabbed a copy of Vogue, plopping it on the counter in front of her, I then pointed at my smiling face on the cover.
I grabbed my groceries and stormed out the door. That proves it. Some people don't change.
After what seemed like the longest walk I've even been on, I was in front of my house. I walked up to the porch and un- locked the door.
Warm air greeted me as I walked in. I flipped the light switch on. A gasp escaped my lips as hundreds of roses crowded the small living room. It's gorgeous. I dropped my purse onto the wooden floor and rushed over to the tons of roses.
I picked up a hand full of roses and lifted them to my nose; I toke in the lovely fresh smell. Roses were my favorite; they were beautiful and even smelled of beauty. A small card laid on the small wooden table, surrounded in red pedals. I placed the roses back into the crystal vase and picked up the note. In neat letters the card read, "Forgive me, Chlo." I recognized the neat font, Steven did all this. A warm feeling filled my stomach. He knows I'm a sucker for all of this romance stuff.
I sat up and went to my purse, I pulled out my phone and searched through my contacts till I saw his smiling face.
"Hello?" He answered almost immediately.
I smiled at the sound of his voice. I moved a bundle of roses from the couch an sat down.
"Hi, Baby," I smiled as I fiddled with a rose.
His voice immediately changed as soon as he heard my voice which made my cheeks warm.
"Hey, Sweetheart," He greeted me happily, "Did you get my gift?"
"Yes," I giggled, "You're forgiven."
This is the Steven I fell in love with, I've been seeing less of him since he started that stupid job, but it is good to know he is still here.
"Thank God!" He cheered, which only made me giggle more, "What are you up to?" He curiously asked.
This time when he asked me it actually sounded like he cared.
"I'm about to cook some dinner," I replied, happily as I folded down the rose peddles one by one.
"Pasta?" He asks hungrily.
"Homemade," I bragged.
"Lucky," He chuckled, "I wish I was there with you."
My heart warmed slightly, I wonder what changed his mood.
"Me too," I smiled.
"Sadly, I have to go sweetie, I'll talk to you later," He stated sadly. "I love you."
He said it first this time.
"I love you too," I grinned as I ended the call. I placed my phone next to the white card.
"Hey, I was wondering- Woah." Someone called in the doorway. I looked over at Jason's gorgeous face, which was wide eyes and looking at all the roses.
"Boyfriend?" He asked.
"Fiancé," I giggled.
"Oh, Well do you want to come help me fix up the house?"
"I was going to go cook dinner," I responded. His face dropped slightly, "Wanna help?" I half heartily asked.
"Sure," He grinned.
Another short chapter, sorry guys. There was a lot of talking, so this chapter lacked a lot of head thought. How do you guys feel about Steven? I had to make him nicer, it would be no fun if he was a jerk this entire book. Still Team Jason? I'm personally leaning towards Steven now, don't worry Jhloe fans (Jason and Chloe.) They're gonna have a cute scene next chapter.
