Life is complicated
With all its twists and turns
Sometimes it's hated
A memory to burn
Life can be hard
Living in terror
Keeping your guard
Building a barrier
Pushing out love
Cost is too high
Walls that won't shove
Saying goodbye
Trusting nobody
Is what you do
Vision is cloudy
Friends are few
All black or white
Only good and bad
No colors in sight
Heart heavy and sad
Playing it safe is
Not always the best
Life isn't a quiz
Life isn't a test
You can't possibly fail
Even with mistakes made
Just inhale, then exhale
Don't be afraid
Let love in
Be strong, be brave
Lift up your chin
Down to the grave
Have faith in others
Keep them close
Your sisters and brothers
You need the most
Green, purple, blue
Paint the world in color
All along you knew
Black and white were duller
Don't you see?
It's time to live
Live fear-free
Time to forgive
Bring your walls down
And see with clarity
Stride into town
With newfound energy
Life is complicated
With all its twists and turns
But it shouldn't be wasted
