Lab Cat

Chapter 2

I woke up with a blurry vision. My hearing was ok. I looked around and called out for Miles.
"Miles...? Are you ok?"
"...Y-Yeah...what about...yo--"
The door opened and the red scientist walked in.
"Interesting...ears and tail...again."
Ears and...tail? I touched my ears and it was fluffy. I gasped while touching my lower back. I felt...a fluffy tail. I looked at Miles and he had animal ears and a fluffy tail. I looked at the red man.
"W-What have you done to us...?"
The red man took a chair and sat between our cages.
"We took the cat and the wolf pup's blood. We separated the blood from the DNA...our goal is to allow humans to turn into the animal, but still look like a human once you drink the DNA."
"But we look half human half animal..."
"That wasn't suppose to happen. You two are failed experiments."
Once he said that my heart started to race. I don't like this feeling...the red man grabbed a needle with a yellow liquid inside. Miles sniffed and held his nose.
"I know what that is..." Miles said. "That smell is poison. You're going to kill us?!"
The red man didn't say a word. He unlocked Miles's cage. Quickly Miles took action and clawed the man. He quickly unlocked my cage.
"We have to escape now!"
He grabbed my hand and we ran down the hallway. Then red emergency lights blinked on and off. I held close to Miles with my ears down.
"I-I'm scared..."
"Don't worry you'll be fine trust me Taku..."
He didn't say we...I'm worried about Miles now. Then we saw five men run towards us armed.
"They have guns?!" I yelled.
Miles ran as fast as he can. The wolf's DNA inside him made him faster. Miles ran passed them and into an empty room. I spotted a window.
"Miles up there..."
Miles nodded and lifted me up. I opened the window and turned my body so I can pull Miles up. The red scientist found us trying to escape. He pulled out a gun. I hurried and pulled Miles up when he shot two times. We escaped the laboratory. We ran as far away as we can. Once we were far Miles became slower and slower.
"Miles? Let's take a break..."
Miles looked at me and moved his hand away from his chest. Blood...he's been shot.
"M-Miles?!!"
"That...red guy shot me from the back...it went through to my chest..."
He started to breathe heavily. Tears escaped my eyes.
"You'll make it right??"
Miles shook his head but smiled.
"I'm just glad you made it out...I'm sorry I can't be with you..."
He closed his eyes with a smile still there. I yelled for help, but no one came. Of course it was dark...and we're in the middle of the woods. I heard branches cracking so I quickly hid Miles and ran away. I started to run on all four like a cat. Then poof! I turned into a black kitten. I walked around the town...hungry. It started to rain so I drank a puddle of water. A shadow came over me. It looks like the same guy that gave us the huge tip. He picked me up.
"Please don't hurt me..." I said, but I think he hears meowing instead.
"It's too cold out for a little kitten...you're coming home with me..."
He held me and scratched behind my ear. Geez...that felt so good...Being a cat isn't so bad...he looked at me, but I looked down.
"Hm...I never seen a black cat with blue eyes and long wild hair. You look like that violin boy."
My violin!!! No I need it!
I jumped out of his arms and ran away. Hearing the wet footsteps he was following me.
