Rebellion: Ground Zero is my 11th novel and rewrite of my third novel, Rebellion (2017) which was my breakout novel on Wattpad and still most popular novel overall online (amassing more than 60K reads.) calling it a hard reboot or a rewrite is however doing Ground Zero an injustice—as it is an entirely new story in all facets, and the only thing it retains from the original story are the two protagonists.
unlike the OG Rebellion, that was centered on the crux of the differences in personalities between two people in love and how those dynamics affected their relationship—the world of Ground Zero is much more darker and gritty. set against a political backdrop of a time period, leading up to the most crucial presidential elections in recent times, Ground Zero puts its protagonists in exigent circumstances with dire consequences on their lives and everyone else that matters to them.
it's basically a story of what happens, when you put normal, passionate people in situations where they have to fight against the system in a world where the odds are stacked against them—and where they've been programmed to think it's futile starting a rebellion against a government that has all the power against its citizens. i've been meaning to rewrite Rebellion in a meaningful way since 2020, but I didn't get inspired until the 2023 elections that totally radicalized my own perception of reality and the concept of right & wrong, which is the soul of this novel. That experience gave me the ingredients i needed to further dimensionalize this story into the masterpiece it turned out to be.
so why rewrite Rebellion for this cause and not just write a whole new story altogether? Well, you will understand in due time. Trust me. And OG Rebellion lovers, don't panic. The core of everything you loved in the OG novel is still here. Romance, drama, supporting characters that steal the show and the two compelling protagonists' relationship vices, that endeared you to this story in the first place. i promise the soul of Rebellion isn't lost. this story however has much more nuance, paranoia and asks even more difficult questions than the OG did.
out very soon.
p.s: this is not the official blurb or cover for Rebellion: Ground Zero. that will be revealed in due time.
