ALTHOUGH; THOUGH; EVEN; THOUGH...
Upotreba
1. After "although" we use subject + verb.
Eg:
Although it rained a lot, they had a good time. (Although it rained a lot, they had a good time.)
I didn't apply for the job although I had the necessary qualifications. (I didn't apply for the job although I had the necessary qualifications.)
2. After "in spite of" or "despite", we use a noun, a pronoun or V-ing.
Eg:
In spite of the rain, we had a good time. (In spite of the rain, we had a good time.)
She wasn't well, but despite/ in spite of this she continued working.
(She wasn't well, but despite/ in spite of this she continued working.)
- You can say "in spite of the fact (that) ..." and "despite the fact (that)..."
Eg: I didn't apply for the job in spite of the fact (that)/ despite the fact (that) I had the necessary qualifications. (I didn't apply for the job in spite of the fact (that)/ despite the fact (that) I had the
necessary qualifications.)
3. "Though" = Although.
Eg: I didn't apply for the job though/ although I had the necessary qualifications. (I didn't apply for the job though/although I had the necessary qualifications.)
In spoken English, we often use "though" at the end of a sentence.
Eg:
The house isn't so nice. I like the garden though.
(= But I like the garden)
I see them every day. I've never spoken to them though.
(= But I've never spoken to them)

COLLOCATIONS

Collocation is a way of combining words together to form phrases according to the usage habits of native speakers.
Collocation can be in the form of pairs of words together:
1. Adjective + noun:
Eg: heavy rain; heavy workload; heavy traffic; heavy goods vehicles...
2. Verb + noun:
Eg: miss an opportunity; miss a chance; miss the bus;...
3. Adverb + adjective:
Eg: bitterly disappointed; awfully sorry; perfectly capable; ...

LIKE AND AS
Upotreba
1. Like = similar to, the same as.
Eg:
What a beautiful house! It's like a palace. (What a beautiful house! It's like a palace.)
Be careful! The floor has been polished. It's like walking on ice.
(Be careful! The floor has been polished. It's like walking on ice.)
- In these examples, like is a preposition. So it is followed by a noun, a pronoun or V-ing.
2. As = in the same way as, in the same condition as.
We use as/ like + subject + verb
Eg:
You should have done it as/ like I showed you. (You should have done it as/like I showed you.)
I left everything like/ as it was. (I left everything like/ as it was.)
3. Sometimes As + subject + verb has other meanings.
Eg: You can do as you like. (= Do what you like)
They did as they promised. (= They did what they promised.)
We also say: as you know/ as I said/ as she expected/as I thought...
Eg:
As you know, it's Emma's birthday next week. (= You know this already)
Andy failed his driving test, as he expected. (= He expected this before)

1. Sometimes "like" = for example, such as.
Eg: I enjoy water sports, like/such as surfing, scuba diving and water-skiing. (I enjoy water sports, like/such as surfing, scuba diving and water-skiing.)
2. "As" can also be a preposition (as + noun), but the meaning is different from "like".
Compare:
As a taxi driver, I spend most of my working life in a car.
(I am a taxi driver, it's my job.)
Everyone in the family wants me to drive them to places. I'm like a taxi driver. (I'm not a taxi driver, but I'm like one.)

Conjunction is a word used to connect two words, phrases or propositions together.
Coordinating Conjunctions are used to connect two (or more) equivalent word units.
For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So.
Eg:
I didn't have enough money so I didn't buy that car.
(I didn't have enough money so I didn't buy that car.)
He works quickly but accurately.
(He works quickly but accurately.)
I don't like listening to music nor playing sports.
I'm just keen on reading.
(I don't like listening to music nor playing sports. I'm just keen on reading.)
I do morning exercise every day, for I want to keep fit.

You can play games or watch TV.
