"Where's Chloe?"
FBI Agent Jimmy Woo and Dr. Darcy Lewis had no idea how to face the almost grieving man. Without a clear response, Bucky Barnes was left to assume the worst (after everything that had happened in the past years, what else could he presume?).
"Is she gone?" Bucky finally dared to ask.
"Technically no," Darcy said with pursed lips, her eyes flickering over to Jimmy for some help. "We definitely know where she is."
Bucky couldn't follow. If Chloe wasn't dead, then what else was there? "What the hell are—"
"What's your relationship to Wanda Maximoff?" Jimmy cut him off.
Bucky's shoulders did a half-shrug. "Not much. We just happen to be on the same side twice."
"And her relationship to Chloe Winters?"
"Close. Before the, uh, Blip happened, Chloe used to talk about her. They have similar powers."
"So one could say they were, like, best friends or something?" asked Darcy who had already scribbled the note down on a paper."
"Sure...why are you asking me all this?"
Darcy wrote slower now, eyes once again flickering to Jimmy. She wasn't going to break the news to an ex-assassin, no sir. That had to fall under an FBI agent's tasks.
Jimmy cleared his throat. "It goes like this, Sergeant Barnes: Nine days ago. Maximoff stormed a S.W.O.R.D. facility and stole the Vision's body, and resurrected him..."
"She what—"
"Being one of the few remaining working Avengers, the FBI and S.W.O.R.D. called in Winters to help breakdown the situation after it was clear that Maximoff was behind the static field."
"I call it a Hex," Darcy said, though she quickly dove her attention back to her notes when Bucky sent her a near glare. He was getting angry.
"Stop," he warned the two, raising a finger to point at them, "I don't want to hear anything else except for a location. Where is Chloe? You said you know where she is."
"And we do," Jimmy confirmed. "We just don't know how to help her get out." He made a gesture for Bucky to follow them.
He was led up to a table full of different televisions, all of them old versions. He immediately saw Wanda and—holy shit it was Vision!—and they were...in a sitcom? Each screen held a different ongoing scene and some of them were even in black and white.
He heard Darcy clear her throat. He looked over to see her pointing at a screen on her side. Then, she made a gesture to at least three other screens. There was one familiar blonde in all of those screens. How could he not know her?
"Chloe..." He was horrified finding his girl acting out the part of a 50s girl, and then a 60s girl...the 70s?
Darcy and Jimmy watched him carefully. It was risky bringing in a semi-stable ex-assassin into the game but they were running out of options.
"What happened to her?" Bucky broke the silence that'd fallen over them. He couldn't bear hearing Chloe's dialogue on the screens. "How is...how is she there?"
"Winters was sucked into the Hex while trying to establish a communication link with Maximoff," Jimmy explained. "We thought she was gone until Dr. Lewis spotted her in the first episode."
"She's assumed the role of Cynthia Rose," Darcy explained, pointing to the screen that was showing the scene in which Chloe introduces herself under the name. "She's becoming Wanda's friend really quickly. In episode 5, she's the godmother to Wanda's and Vision's twins!"
None of it registered in Bucky's head. All he could think about was Chloe being stuck in that thing—in that world? She didn't even look aware of it. She was busy addressing a crowd for a magic show. In another screen, she was gawking at two twin baby boys. She was then high-fiving a set of older twin boys with her trademark sneaky smile.
"Is she aware?" He finally asked. "Does she...does she even realize..?"
"As far as we know, people Wanda's controlling don't really realize it."
"Is she being hurt in any way?"
"That's...trickier..." Darcy said, purposely holding that answer off, "But maybe you can talk that out with Captain Rambeau."
"Who?"
"So far, the only person who's gotten out of the Hex relatively unharmed."
Bucky's head snapped away from the screen, eyes now glued to the young doctor. "Bring me to her," he said, or ordered but neither Darcy nor Jimmy would point that out.
"Yeah, she's this way," Jimmy said, leading the way out.
Bucky stayed where he was for another moment to look at Chloe on the screens again.
"I'm Cynthia Rose, I live right across the street from you!" Chloe stood on the sidewalk beside Wanda's home. "Maybe you've seen me gardening? I can give you some pointers, if you'd like."
"Oh, I don't...really do gardening..." Wanda started giving a shake of her head when Chloe/Cynthia spoke again.
"No worries, honey, I can teach you! I know the perfect stores with the best seeds!" Chloe/Cynthia used exaggerated hand gestures, and somehow it had an audience laughing? "We can make a day out of it. We'll have your garden looking pretty in no time!"
Wanda seemed to warm up to the idea. "Well, I guess a good garden doesn't hurt anybody." She nodded her head. "Alright, let's do it."

Author's Note:
Idk where this one came from but I do imagine some scenes of Chloe in future mcu projects since technically speaking, Bucky's story does continue into the next phase ;)
As always, I have AO3/Fanfic accounts under "noblecrescent" and a tumblr account under "saiilorstars" if you'd like to follow :)
