"Here's the thing." Poor choice of words to start a conversation out with while Castiel was trying to get Dean to like him. He tried to play it like the cool boss and leaned against Dean's car. A look from Dean that said "I'll rip your guts out and paint the road with your blood" was enough to tell him maybe he shouldn't lean against the car.
"Um... Hey, look!" Cas reached in his pocket and fished out a pair of keys that clicked familiar in Dean's head in .02 seconds.
"My bike keys?!" He got out of his car and grabbed them out of Cas' hands. "How did you find them?"
"Oh, that's a long story. What matters is you got your bike back."
"Yeah! Uh, th-thanks, Cas." Those words hurt leaving Dean's chapped lips as he smiled. His bike was once again his.
"Hey, you said something about improvements here at the park... And I was wondering if you could show them to me sometime?"
"Man, is that how you ask all the girls out?"
"What? No no, I'm no-"
Dean laughed, "Calm down, Novak, it was a joke. Though you did really panic there."
Cas stood up straight and cleared his throat. "But I would like to know if you would be up for it?"
Dean leaned against his car and looked at his boot. "Sure."
"Really? I mean, okay! I'll... I'll see you tomorrow, Dean." Cas got in his Lexus and drove off. He sighed and finally relaxed after that awkward meet up.
---------
"Dean, you came!"
"Well, you asked nicely so. Oh, and I brought brownies."
Charlie took the Tupperware and set it on the table with all the other food. The place was littered with people, talking about boring stuff and gossiping. Julie apparently slept with Brad and she's got a husband in the states. Charles had been a drug dealer before came to the island, and they say he can still get drugs sent here. Dean laughed and walked over to Charlie.
"Man, this has been fun, Charlie, but -"
"Oh, Dean, don't go! You haven't came to one of these in months!"
Dean sit down his drink "And I wonder why. Charlie, this isn't my place. But if you ever want to hang out, you know all you gotta do is call."
"I know... But Dean, I wanna hang out here..." Charlie pouted.
Dean sighed and ran a hand through his hair. It want that he was nervous being here, he just didn't like people. Especially when they were drunk. "I'll stay for 30 more minutes. Then I'm going home."
Charlie bounced on the balls of her feet, her smile wide and toothy. "Thank you, Dean! C'mon, let's get food!" She grabbed his sleeve and Dean got dragged by the small ball of fire. They actually started to have fun, played a few pranks on people.
Dean stopped at the bar area and Charlie leaned against him. After 2 shots of something clear and a bite of a lime they shuddered and laughed. "So get this. Novak wants to take me around the park tomorrow and find out what's wrong with the place."
Charlie chuckled a little and fiddled with the tiny umbrella she got earlier. "So it's a date?"
"What!" Dean exclaimed "Hell no. If it was a date I'd want a fancy dinner and a walk on the beach."
"Ooh, so you do like him then?"
"Charlie, I told you, I'm done with dating." Dean paid his tab along with Charlie's and sighed "Now before I get too smashed, I have to get home."
"Afraid that won't happen, Dean. You can sleep on my couch. I am not risking you getting into an accident."
Dean was on his fourth attempt at putting his arm through his jacket sleeve when he realized she was right. "Alright. Let's go. And this isn't a sleep over okay? No marvel marathons and braidin' your hair."
Charlie grabbed Dean's hand and made a pouty face as she led him out of the party center and to the quiet trailers "Awww. Well, I guess we'll just have to reschedule. "
Dean walked into her trailer and made his way to her couch. He fell asleep as soon as his face touched the Spider Man pillow. Charlie threw a blanket over him and smiled. She went her bedroom and passed out shortly after Dean.
"Dean wake up!" Charlie slapped his face a little hard and Dean sat up so fast his head slammed into Charlie's, who then fell on the floor groaning. The sunlight pierced Dean's eyes and he stood up. He grabbed Charlie's hand and helped her up. "Sorry, baby girl," Dean looked around for a clock "What time is it?"
"It's two fucking thirty. I'm late for work!"
"Charlie, I'm your boss. It's excused."
"But I've never been late!"
"Let's just go! I was supposed to meet Cas an hour ago."
As they were leaving, Charlie tossed Dean a pair of sunglasses. They got into their vehicles and stormed out of the trailer park.
Charlie waved as she turned to her work and Dean stayed true for the park. When he came to a stop, Cas was sitting on the front steps like a ditched date. Dean groaned and grabbed his keys. His breath was awful and all he could do is chew on a month old peppermint and hope his boss couldn't tell he had been drinking.
"You're late."
Dean forced a nervous chuckle. "Who shows up on time anyway?"
"People who have very busy days."
Dean looked at him and snapped back. "Well, if you're so busy, we don't have to do this!" He started to turn around when Cas grabbed his shoulder.
"Wait!" He awkwardly let go as Dean turned around. "I really want to make this a better park. Will you help?"
Dean stayed quit for a moment before responding. "There's only one way for you to figure out what's wrong. You're seeing the park from a head director's point of view, when you need to see it from park tourist's view."
Cas turned his head curiously and squinted his blue eyes. "What?"
"Oh, this is gonna be fun."
