#5. Fallen
~ Kai

He was too high up. He was too high up to think. Too high up to breath. Too high up that everyone looked like the dots at the end of sentences. Kai was so high up he was nearly suffocating. And he was happy about it.

Kai built himself a mountain. One made of chairs, wood, crates, and anything else he could find lying around. He started at dawn and made his way to sun set woth nothing to eat or drink.

Kai climbed so high that he felt so weak, so tired, so slow. But he kept going until he reached the top tired, wheezing, and dizzy.

Jay, Nya, Cole, and Zane looked up from the bottom, where they could breath, stand, and think.

"Is something wrong with Kai?" Jay asked, scared that Nya's brother might fall and fall and fall and smash all over the bounty's deck like a raw egg.

"I'm not sure," Nya responded, biting her botton lip. "He's been so distant ever since last month."

Kai leaned back in his chair heaving and struggling to think of why he climbed. What made him so upset he built a mountain taller than the ultra dragon from snout to tip of the tail?

"Don't think something might be bothering him?" Cole looked back at the two.

Jay scratched his head and shrugged. Nya just glanced at Zane.

"Do you have an idea?"

The nindroid tilted his head looking back on his memory. "Well, I don't believe I do. According to my history, I cooked that day, Jay didn't blow anything up, we went on a mis-alarm, and Kai . . . he just went inside the room. He never came out until the next night. . ."

"But why?" Jay asked.

Zane shook his head. "I'm afraid I don't have that information."

"Oh Kai," Nya sighed. Was he mad? Or was he sad? What happened, no one knew.

No one except Kai knew. But he was too weak, too tired. If he screamed, would they be able to listen from such a distance?

"Nya," the brunette groaned, his dizzied head falling to the side. "Nya. . . Nya . . . Nya-" He bent over coughing and coughing. The mountain shook, but stayed intact. Kai couldn't breath anymore. He was going to die. He didn't want to die.

They all gasped when they saw it. Nya practically screamed so loud everyone all the way to Bolivia could hear her. Kai stumbled out and fell and fell and fell and fell. . .

His back cracked, his teeth scraped, and his body burned.

But he didn't break.

"Kai, are you alright! Can you hear me?"

A cold hand traced against his cheek. He felt a small, addictive shock hit him. His heart beat sped up, his face felt hotter than the rest of him, and he felt he was standing center stage. The pain numbed away.

"Kai? Kai!" His world started to fade out as he lost consciousness.

The words he heard were a faint whisper, "Why would you do something like that?"

He mumbled back, "Because I love someone who loves someone else. As selfish as it sounds, it hurts a lot to know you love him more than me, (name) . . . I don't even understand why I love you . . . I . . . I just do. . . (Name)."
