As I pushed open the giant school doors, I wished I could turn back. Everywhere I looked there were both unfamiliar and familiar faces, some of which I didn't want to see. I quickly scanned my schedule to see where my home room and locker were. After I figured out where to go, I started walking quickly. I wasn't exactly watching where I was going, so I ended up bumping into a group of girls I didn't exactly want to bump into. "Watch it, loser" spat Mia Harris, the most popular girl in school. The other girls snickered as they watched me struggle to pick up my bag and papers. "Sluts" I muttered under my breath as I stood up and walked down the hallway. "What did you just say?!" Mia yelled as I stopped in my tracks. I quickly spun around. "Oh, nothing" I lied, flashing them a fake smile. Mia stood there, infuriated, her face a bright red. I walked to my locker, a shocked expression on my face. I had never actually talked to them, or stood up for myself for that matter. I opened my locker and put the books and papers I didn't need away, and then slammed my locker shut. As I turned around to go to my home room, I slammed into this dip-shit that wasn't watching where he was going. I quickly scrambled to pick up my scattered books and lunch. "Watch where you're going, dick fa-" I suddenly stopped as I looked up to see who it was. His chocolatey eyes met mine, and I couldn't stop staring. He had short brown hair, chocolatey brown eyes, and the cutest smile. "I'm so sorry" I stuttered, embarrassed. "No, no, it's my fault" he said shyly with a small smile. God this dude was hot. I finally picked up all my stuff and started to pick up his things. We both bent down at the same time, knocking heads. "Ouch" we both said at same time. "Jeez, we need to stop bumping into each other like this." He said while laughing. I rubbed my sore forehead and said "So, who are you anyways?" "Oh, I'm Shawn Mendes. I'm a freshman so I don't exactly know my way around." He said nervously, rubbing the back of his head. "Well I'm Sarah Russet, and I'm also a freshman." I said with a smile, a real smile, on my face. "Really?" He asked, looking up with a giant smile. "Yes, really." I said laughing. "Let's compare our schedules." He took his crumpled schedule out of his pocket and I quickly scanned it. "Looks like we have 4 out of 5 classes together." I said happily. "Wonderful!" He said, beaming. He then looked down at his shoes with a nervous look on his face. "Do you, um, want to sit with me at lunch?" He stuttered, turning a bright red. I could tell he was a little shy, just like me."Of course!" I said shyly. He then beamed again. I looked at my watch and almost jumped out my skin. It was only a minute until the bell rang, and I had to get to home room. "Oh, well look at the time." I said, looking down at my watch. "I gotta run, too." Shawn said, pointing down the hall."So I guess I'll see you next period?" I asked, half sarcastically. "Yep, will do!" He said across his shoulder as he sprinted down the hall. I just stood there with a huge smile on my face. Maybe this won't be a shitty year after all I thought to myself as I ran to my home room.
