Jen and Edward lay down on Jen's comfortable queen-size bed. They were just cuddling and talking, nothing more. It was an unusually chilly day for mid-June, so they both felt like relaxing and taking it easy.

"So what do you want to do?" asked Jen. "I mean, I like this, but I'm just a little bored."

"You know what I'm always up for," Edward smirked, making a goofy, suggestive expression.

Jen laughed. "I'm not ready yet, I keep telling you that." Edward felt disappointed, but he understood. It was worth a shot.

"Well, we could hang out with Erik, maybe go to the parlor. Troy's at some scout camp for a week. You know, it hasn't be just the three of us in a long time."

"Yeah," Jen yawned. "To be honest, I like Erik a lot better. They're pretty much the same person, but Erik's always been nicer."

Edward jumped out of bed suddenly. "So let's meet up with him!" he suggested again. "You coming?"Jen scrambled out of the sheets.

"Right behind ya," she said, following him out of her room. They were soon out in the cool, mid-day air.

Edward beamed happily. "It'll feel great to see Erik. I haven't seen him since... Well, you'll find out."

-

"A girl with scissors for hands?" Jen set down her strawberry sundae. "You've got to be joking!"

Edward's brown eyes lit up. "But it's totally true! She lives in the mansion on the hill. I've been there over three times now. She's so amazing. Erik's seen her, too."

"Yeah. It's a quite a sight, you'll have to come sometime," said Erik.

Jen furrowed her brow."It just doesn't make any sense. It's not scientifically possible for someone to be born with scissorhands! And why would someone get surgery to do so? There's no logic. Rick, did you actually see this?"

"My name's. Not. Rick," he exhaled in annoyance. "But yes, it's true. Ed wouldn't lie to you."

"I guess so." Jen returned to her ice cream, solemnly. Edward had seen this behavior with her before; It was back in October, and Della Simmons had been his lab partner. She was tall, with gorgeous, long brown hair, great charm, and smart as a whip. Everyone thought they were dating, including Jen. Jen had shut Edward out for weeks until he actually had to verify that he wasn't with Della. Edward recognized this as jealousy.

"Well, I'm going to pay Kim a visit later," Edward stated, discarding his cone wrapper. "You can join, if you like." He knew the words were wrong as soon as they came out of his mouth.

Jen let it drop. "No, I'm fine. I think I'll just go back to Erik's house, you can still meet with your little friend. I'm leaving."

She pulled the twin by the collar of his polo and dragged him out of the parlor. Erik shot him an apologetic look, and proceeded to leave with Edward's overwhelmingly jealous girlfriend.

Edward leaned back in exasperation, but Jen had every right to be angry. Kim had almost become an obsession of his, and no girlfriend would be totally okay with that. After a few minutes of thinking it over, Edward decided to leave. Outside, to the east, he could see the glimpse of the mansion over the homes and establishments. Edward found himself facing the same emotion he'd just dealt with a little bit previously.

He started to walk the other direction. He was going to Erik's house.
