Prologue
There she stood, tears staining her pale face, on the edge of the building. Sending me one last glance she leaped off of the building, her blonde hair covered her face when she did. Her body fell toward the ground. I played this moment over and over again in my head, and as I did, I shut the world out.
When I came back to my senses, I found two men, both dressed in dark blue jumpsuits, at my sides.
They kept asking me if I was okay as they directed me to the ambulance my mother currently rested in. I watched my mother in front of me. She looked so peaceful, it's not very often that I see her, calm, with nothing in her mind.
My mother, Julianne Miller, lay before me with her blonde hair and brown eyes, looked absolutely beautiful, now more than ever, Even if she had blood running down her head. She looked calm and relaxed, this made her skin look less-pale and her face look younger than she really is. I looked up away from her, only to find the two men, who brought me into this vehicle stare at me. They looked worried and sympathetic.
I wasn't really sure of what was happening right now, all I remember is that I found my mother crying when I came home from school. When I asked her why she was crying, she pulled me into a hug. Which was unusual because my mom isn't into hugs and stuff like that. Then she served me some pasta. I love the way my mother makes pasta, I've never had pasta the way she makes it anywhere else, and it's even more special because she only rarely makes it.
After lunch, while I was putting the dishes away, she pulled me into another hug and cried into my shoulder. She told me she loved me repeatedly and told me that she was sorry, I didn't really understand that, then. She also told me to tell my father that she loves him. With that, she let go of me and went upstairs to her room.
I stood in the kitchen, not understanding any of this. I heard the door of her room open once again, but she didn't come downstairs. I walked up the stairs, when I reached the first floor of the house, I saw a silhouette walking out the door that led to the open terrace. I followed.
My mother was standing on the edge of the building, "MOM!" I yelled. "Honey go back inside" she told me, half crying. "ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?! I AM NOT GOING TO GO BACK INSIDE!" I yelled again, taking a step toward her. "Clair, don't come any closer! I will jump" she threatened. "Mom, please, stop this" I cried.
"There a lot I've been hiding from you sweetheart, and I'm really sorry for that. I didn't mean for things to happen this way" she said, vaguely "mom what are talking about?" I asked her but she didn't respond, "You'll finally find out about him, and I'm really happy for that" she continued "whom will I find out about? Mom you're not making any sense" I snapped. "Your brother" she said, a tear ran down her face. I couldn't say anything or move, I was dumbstruck. I have a brother?
"Julia!" Someone called, from the front lawn, I guess. That's when my mother gave me an apologetic look before...
