Chapter 1Kelly, our next door neighbour was the one who called 911. Mrs. Norman, who insisted I call her Kelly because it makes her feel young, is a widow. She makes amazing cookies and cakes. Every time she whips up something new, she gives me quarter of it. Kelly and my mother were really close, that's why I was okay with having her come with me and mother to the hospital. I was still shocked from the events that had previously occurred.
I sat at the hospital, outside the Emergency Room waiting for stats about my mother trying to understand what I'd just heard and seen. When my father came to the hospital I was a little bit relieved.
He pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead, told me everything was alright.
"Are you okay?" he asked me, concern filled his eyes"yeah dad I'm fine, but mom..." I trailed off"She'll be fine, I promise" he gave me reassuring smile, and I smiled back"Dad, mom said something about me having a brother before she, you know..." I asked him, anxiously waiting for a response.
There was Silence. "I think that'll be a little too much for you to handle today sweetie, I promise I'll tell you soon. I have to" my dad whispered.
I nodded, I didn't feel that I should force it on him.
My Parents and I, we were the kind of family who were close without actually having to spend time together. We were the type of family who would tell each other little things about each other and still know each detail, because we just knew. My mother and Father met when they were in high school and got married when they finished collage, that's what they've told me. They said they knew they were right for each other when they met each other.
We had breakfasts together every Sunday, and tried to have dinner together every night.
I was their only child. Or So I thought.
I didn't know what to do, because I didn't really understand what was happening. My father told me to go to the bathroom and freshen up a little so I did what I was told.
Looking in the mirror of the hospital bathroom, I saw a tired, confused and scared girl. That was someone I was not, if anything I was the opposite of that. I a pink floral spaghetti-sleeved dress on, it ended right before my knee. I'd put my hair up into a beautiful French braid in the morning, now what's left of it looks like a tangled mess. I washed my face and put my hair up into a messy bun and started to walk back to my father.
When I got there, I found my father talking to the doctor, I sprinted toward them.
"She's doing fine now, but..." he stopped when he saw me and smiled. I smiled back and asked him how my mother was doing. "Your mother is doing perfectly fine. Because your house wasn't that tall, she only has a broken leg. It was like falling off of a slide. She'll be fine. She just has a few scratches here and there, so we'll clean her up and move her into a new room." He explained.
I nodded and smiled again. "Thank you so much Dr. Wolfowitz" my father said shaking his hand.
My father took me to the canteen and bought the both of us sandwiches. We ate while I told him how it happened.
"I want you to go home for the night okay?" He asked me, while we went back to the Waiting room "your mother needs me here"I nodded.

When I walked out of the cab and paid the driver and walked into the front porch, something hit me, not literally of course, mentally. And I started crying. I was pulled into a tight hug, I embraced it when I smelt the familiar scent. "Clair, Oh my god, what happened?" Nathan asked. I kept sobbing into his shirt. I couldn't get myself to let go of him or look up at him or say anything at all.
I continued crying for a solid fifteen minutes. When I was tired from all that crying, I stopped. Nathan helped me up the stairs, before he did, he closed the door and locked it. He tucked me in before jumping in himself. I dug my face into his shirt, silence filled the room. The caressed the back of my head and I sobbed slightly once again.
"My mother's in the hospital" I finally brought myself to say. He looked at me, wide-eyed and I told him what had happened this afternoon. He pulled me into another tight hug as I broke down once again.
When I'd run out of tears to cry, I called my dad an told him that Nathan was here, he told me to tell him to sleep in the guest bedroom, and to thank him for being there for me.
"Your mother woke up" He told me "she said she was sorry and that she'll explain everything that she did, tomorrow when you come here". And for the fourth time today I cried. Nathan took the phone from me, and told my dad he would take care of everything and hung up.
Nathan lay next to me, rubbing my back, telling me everything was going to be okay and soon, I drifted off into sleep.
