Chapter 4
Nathan stared at me wide-eyed as I explained everything to him.
"You have an elder brother!" He exclaimed, sharing my excitement"I know!" I shrieked "Oh My God" He shrieked, imitating me.
I hit his shoulder playfully. And we shared a laugh.
"That's one more day" he said, more to himself than to me. "Isn't it great?" I asked him, excited "Not entirely, but yeah" He smiled.
I gave him a questioning look.
"I already had to make your father like me, and it took me like five months to let me have you to myself, now an older brother? Who knows how long he will take to wow" he whined
I chuckled "no matter what, I'll always be yours" I said, craning my neck up to kiss him.
"Eww!" a kid, who looked like he was about 5 pointed at us. "Go mind your own business punk!" I snappedHe looked taken aback
I have never really liked kids. Growing up, I was a menace, so I was kind of a little worried if my mother was having another baby when she said I have a brother. Thankfully that's been cleared. Kids are such a pain, first of all mothers go through so much pain to bring them into this world and then they end up torturing those mothers for doing so, the rest of their lives. Sadly they don't just stop at annoying their own family members, no, they will ruin the moment and destroy the peace for anyone they see are happier than them. Ugh! They are so annoying. My Boyfriend begs to differ, He thinks Children are a gift from god who should be cherished and embraced. So he sent me a glare when I told the kid to beat it.
"That's not what she meant to say dear" he said, turning to smirk at me. "Why don't you come on over here, what's your name?"
I kicked his leg from under the table that we were sitting at, at the cafeteria in the hospital, he winced. "What the hell his wrong with you?" I whisper-yelled at him.
"I'm Johnny" the kid said, taking the seat in front of us. "I'm waiting for my mother to come out of the doctor's room, they wouldn't let me in" "there's no surprise in that" I murmured. "I have to use the ladies room" I said trying to leave, but sadly Nathan destroyed my petty attempt to escape. "Awh, can't you be a good girl hold it for a little while longer?" he said smirking.
I glared at him, once again taking my seat. I ignored the kid and the conversation as much as could, to do so, I took my phone out and went through unread messages and notifications from numerous apps. There were only a few messages and notifications so I was forced to go back to participating in the stupid conversation Nathan and the kid were having about Hamburgers
"Johnny! Oh Thank God I found you!" A familiar looking lady walked up to us.
"Mrs. Moore?" Nathan and I exclaimed at the same time. She giggled. "Hey, what are you two doing here?" "Clair's mother fell down a flight of stairs and broke her leg" Nathan said, putting and arm around me. "Oh that's terrible, give her my well wishes would you, Clair" Mrs. Moore said, "thank you so much for watching Johnny" I smiled. "Oh it was no big deal" Nathan said. "Mommy! This boy is really nice! But, this girl does icky stuff" the kid said, pulling at the hem of his mother's shirt. "Oh really? What did she do?" She asked, sending me a questioning glance which made my cheeks go pink. "She kissed him! On the lips!" the kid said, scrunching his nose up in disgust. Ugh!
Nathan pulled his arm away and my cheeks went red, I could literally feel the heat that was radiating off of it.
"Is that so?" Mrs. Moore said, glancing at the two of us.
I felt like I'd committed a crime! This was so patronizing. "It's nice to see that some relationships that happen in high school will last longer than others" she said sighing. "Oh and, Nathan, if you're free sometime around do you mind babysitting Johnny? I don't know how long it's been since I had a nice meal with Dean" "Sure, whenever I'm free I'll let you know" he said. She smiled at him. "You can bring Clair if you want to" she said smirking at the two of us. My face if going to need a lot of ice to cool down.
"Well, I better get going" she said, before leaning in closer to me ad whispering "He's a keeper"I don't know how I managed to say "I know" I smiled, my face redder than blood.
After Mr. Moore was out of sight, we looked at each other and looking at my face Nathan burst out laughing, he laughed so hard, he got a few glares from some of the nurses. "It's not funny!" I hollered. "There goes my extra credit for English" I said in remorse. This caused Nathan to laugh even louder. I stormed away. Seconds later he ran behind me to catch up. I shoved him a little, sending him off balance. He shoved me back, sending me falling on my butt.He laughed again, and so did I.
